Migrants at Ice jail in Miami made to kneel to eat ‘like dogs’, report alleges
Incident in which migrants were shackled with hands tied of one succession of alleged abuses at jails in Florida

Migrants at a Miami immigration jail were shackled with their hands tied behind their backs and made to kneel to eat food from styrofoam plates “like dogs”, according to a report published on Monday into conditions at three overcrowded south Florida facilities.

The incident at the downtown federal detention center is one of a succession of alleged abuses at Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (Ice) operated jails in the state since January, chronicled by advocacy groups Human Rights Watch, Americans for Immigrant Justice, and Sanctuary of the South from interviews with detainees.

Dozens of men had been packed into a holding cell for hours, the report said, and denied lunch until about 7pm. They remained shackled with the food on chairs in front of them.

“We had to eat like animals,” one detainee named Pedro said.

Degrading treatment by guards is commonplace in all three jails, the groups say. At the Krome North service processing center in west Miami, female detainees were made to use toilets in full view of men being held there, and were denied access to gender-appropriate care, showers, or adequate food.

The jail was so far beyond capacity, some transferring detainees reported, that they were held for more than 24 hours in a bus in the parking lot. Men and women were confined together, and unshackled only when they needed to use the single toilet, which quickly became clogged.

If "this" is what you voted for...
I think there's room for all of them at Alligator Alcatraz.

Are you concerned with the rights of biological girls and women to be allowed to compete in sports without the fear of bioligical men lining across from them? The left seems to only worry about a few rights.
Women can take care of themselves.

You have evidence of pedophilia? Or are you just glomming onto the latest Liberal Big Lie.

Since you’re pro President Trump and pro covering up everything…

There’s no way you’re gonna have an issue with what happens to migrants at the hands of your own thug security apparatus.

Thts a lie. It seems like you just cant help yourself anymore.

Not sure that this level of dishonesty from you can be laid at the feet of TDS. Please show me that I am wrong and that an honest post from you is something you can manage.

Only a blind and deaf person would be in denial at this point
Even the blind and deaf get that you have zero evidence to back up your claim. The truth that you hateful leftists are incapable of seeing is that there is not enough evidence to indict a single person anywhere on the planet for the rape or abuse of a minor related to Epstein.

Do you believe that we, "America" can fix all the problems of the world?
We have, for so many. Why stop now?

That is a yes or no answer

I believe it is a fools errand

There are places in the world that are "shitholes" and everyone knows it.....we, as Americans won the birth lottery as it is....a place where for the most part, we have a chance to succeed.

We cant fix all the woes of the world....and these people that come here hoping for a better life and trying to get out of the crappy situation they are in, i understand their plight.....but again, we cant even fix our country right now.....how in the hell can we fix theirs also

We have so many domestic issues that arent even being discussed...much less worked on
For me, and many of us on this site, i have maybe 15-20 years left if i am lucky.....but i want this country to be a better place for my grandkids than it is now.....and i cant worry about people from other countries when i see record numbers of homeless.....record numbers of kids growing up in broken homes with not enough to eat.....veterans who can get the help they need from the VA.....way too few low income housing developments, and most of those are places i wouldnt want my worst enemies living in

And i worry about the debt continuing to climb and climb and climb....and it doesnt matter if a D or an R is in the WH, congress controls the spending or at least they used to....

So the bottom line is, no....i cant feel sorry for, or worry about someone deported back to El Salvador or Panama or some other country.....i have too many other things to worry about
The bottom line being a no, I think we should send the Statue of Liberty back to where it came from. We don't have use for it anymore.
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!

That was true when we were first settling this country....when there was a need to bring in as many immigrants from other places as possible....and it made our country strong. People came with a dream, and usually not much more....but there was room, and there were possibilities for them.

Is that still true today? If so, why does our government limit the number of immigrants allowed annually? Why do they have to have sponsors? Jobs promised?

And why do so many still end up using government benefits?

Countries all over the world have had to take a serious look at their immigration policy....what makes the USA so different in your eyes?

late 16th century? I'm sure those settlers appreciated the help they needed.
When did we receive France's gift?

We still need to strengthen this country.
They, as in desperate people, are still dreaming about a better life. We were a safe haven for all. Why can't we still be that?

Sieg Heil Trump because we are not the shining city on the hill anymore.

White people. You are referring to a time when mostly white people moved here. Just say you want white people here, and you want brown people somewhere else.

And why do so many still end up using government benefits?

"We find that all immigrants consumed 21 percent less welfare and entitlement benefits than native-born Americans on a per capita basis in 2022, based on data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). Immigrants were 14.3 percent of the US population and consumed just 11.9 percent of all means-tested welfare and entitlement benefits that year."

Oh we just have the words of Epstein himself

Oh...is our immigration policy new to just the last two years?
wow!
And here i was thinking these policies have mostly been in effect for decades

My wife had to wait 7 years for her green card almost 3 decades ago.....her, and her family were coming from Germany, had sponsors, had jobs lined up, and still the wait was long....Was Trump in charge way back then?

Yes, they are dreaming about a better life....as i said in my post....i understand their plight. But i am not blind as to the issues we as a nation are already dealing with....

I lived for many many years in NO Virginia, which has a huge undocumented population. The school board meetings there have been interesting because of that for 15-20 years....overcrowding, raised taxes, and class sizes that have gotten out of control....Fairfax county, Loudoun county, Prince WIlliam county....they are all dealing with the same issues....

Again....we cant fix the woes of every country around the world....it is a fools errand. And some people are going to go back to less than ideal situations....

But i dont have the answers on how to solve all these issues....not enough money, not enough resources

So what do you propose?

really....just whites eh?
how many Chines settlers came over in the 1850;s thru 1890's and settled in the west.....and helped to build our railroad systems

How may came up from the south and settled in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona....and built their dream

Yes, Europe sent a lot of immigrants from all over the continent....and they settled all over the country....but we are a melting pot with every race, ethnicity, and religion that probably settled here at one time or another

"We find that all immigrants consumed 21 percent less welfare and entitlement benefits than native-born Americans on a per capita basis in 2022, based on data from the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). So they consumed less....does that mean they didnt consume any? NO....so resources did go to them that otherwise could have gone elsewhere....that was my point

When people settled here no matter what race, culture, or origin before....they were on their own....they either made it, or they didnt.....no one promised them it would be easy, they just promised them a chance
