Both Opposition and Tories wants the British government to hit harder and hit now.
Russia sanctions: Has the UK gone far enough?
Ukraine conflict: Boris Johnson defends UK sanctions measures against Russia
If one was a little bit conspiratorious one could claim BoJo is dragging his feet to allow his old Oligarch friends from his London mayor days to have time to move their assets. Though that would be ridiculous, wouldn't it.
London is probably the biggest money laundering center that the Russians have abroad.
Only ridiculous thing in here being the last post that denies what is common knowledge as far as actual facts are concerned.
The UK has turned into a de facto Putin puppet regime under the last 10+ years of Tory rule.
But for years, the moneyed streets of the British capital and its surroundings have been a really great place to hide if you’re a Kremlin-linked oligarch.
Russian millionaires and billionaires have bought up so much of wealthy areas like Belgravia in Central London that certain British neighborhoods have gained their own Soviet-inspired nicknames like “Londongrad” or “Red Square.” Activists gave “kleptocracy tours” of empty mansions suspected to be linked to the “London laundromat” for cleaning dirty money. And while the British government has used sanctions to target Russians abroad, it’s so far been wary of looking at problems closer to home.
I've long since refrained from directly addressing tu quoque blather from the source of habitual tu quoque blather.
As usual you don't get it.. Germany can replace the gas from Russia.I had to smile at that piece of utter nonsense.
It's amazing how bitter some EU residents have become because of Brexit.
They really need to grow up and get on with their lives.
For the record, it is Germany that needs Russia, not the UK. Germany is dependent on Russia for half of its natural gas and a third of its oil......now that's a puppet!
"The EU is the largest importer of natural gas in the world, according to the Directorate-General for Energy for the EU, with the largest share of its gas coming from Russia (41%)"
London’s status as a playground for Kremlin-linked oligarchs undermines Britain’s tough-on-Russia stance
Germany can replace the gas from Russia.
Hell the European Football Champions Chelsea are owned by one of the biggest and have they been seized by Boris and Co? Has other personal assets, like tons of buildings in London been seized? Of course not.
More asinine blather from someone truly believing his own delusion of being able to inspire fear in other forum members on the friggin' inernet, while obsessing as usual over his favourite idiocy of "expats on a budget".
Wow, our Brexit defending Boris Lover to the rescue again to post nonsense about his buddy/England.Duh! Probably?
Any proof of that claim?
Someone hasn't heard that London is the largest financial centre in Europe.
"London remains Europe’s major global finance centre"
Global finance centres: London retains its edge in Europe
London remains Europe’s major global finance centre despite Brexit and retains its second-place ranking in a list of the best financial centres around the world behind New York, according to new research.www.icaew.com
Note how Pete's totally correct address of the UK's difficulty in replacing the billions of Oligarch money hidden mainly in London but also thruout the UK.
Instead we get the usual prevaricating gish gallop over something else.
That's the low level debate quality we're treated to by such miserable posts.
What's more, it's already been doing that by securing (and continuing to) other supply sources. That this will, by way of higher prices, put strain on consumers is not under dispute. despite the Owstralian's attempts to imply that it is.As usual you don't get it.. Germany can replace the gas from Russia.
Don't confuse matters by bringing up facts here. The UK can not explain nor replace the 10s if not 100s of billions being hidden in the UK by Russian Oligarchs.
Hell the European Football Champions Chelsea are owned by one of the biggest and have they been seized by Boris and Co? Has other personal assets, like tons of buildings in London been seized? Of course not.
Wow, our Brexit defending Boris Lover to the rescue again to post nonsense about his buddy/England.
More whinging I see, not even reading all the posts. Same old same old I see. Fiction and no facts should be your nickname.Wow! Our Brexit hating, anti-British EU resident has been mightily triggered, yet again.
Nobody denies that there could be "dodgy" money from all over the world invested in London.
The point you don't appear able to grasp is that London is the most favoured financial centre in Europe....so of course it will attract more investment.
London has always attracted far more investment than other European cities.
Get over your envy.
