[W:#2,279][W: #760][W: #350] Trump falls to the ground onstage at rally; unclear what is happening

I would expect that the gunman was outside the perimeter.

I’m kind of surprised his security was so bad. Is he trying to save money or something? I don’t get it.

Yes, everything I'm seeing is the guy was outside the perimeter of the rally.

Can't imagine a full-power .223 would be caught in flight like that. If it's a .223, it's maybe subsonic and suppressed?

If it was suppressed then the rapport wouldn't have been heard at all at 200 yards, and the rapport came after the bullet struck so it wasn't subsonic.

And it is sad that so many have little to no concern for those individuals. Who went to an event to support a candidate they believed in. This is NOT how our political process should play out. We ALL should be extremely concerned and do everything we can to make sure this doesn’t’ even happen again. And for all those who are making such absolutely horrendous comments that Trump “deserved” it, may God be with them. This entire event has made me sick. And sad that our Country is where we are at.

I simply cannot believe the hateful comments on this thread. Pure evil.

Oh, Trump is an existential thread to democracy and he wants to be a dictator and we've already watched him send his cult to the capital to hurt politicians and stop the transfer of power.

THAT is what makes him easier to beat than Nikki. She doesn't have all that baggage but she will implement the same crazy ass Republican agenda.
No, he's not. No, he doesn't. No, he didn't

Trump paranoia is scary.

Wind, and perhaps the nerves of knowing you are going to die.
This is in regards to the photos of the supposed bullet in flight. Getting nerdish about how that could be captured.

It was reported to be an AR rifle, so I'm thinking that it would more likely be 5.56 ammunition, which I believe has more powder than .223, so greater distance.

It was reported that the shooter was on a roof, outside the venue, outside the security perimeter, and I thought reported that it was some 300 yards from the stage.

If true, it's not easy to sight an AR for that range with high accuracy.

Trump got lucky. Really lucky.
Multiple spectators weren't lucky.
It could have been so much worse.
Agreed. Probably 55 grain ammo. With most ARs, you are basically talking 2MOA or worse so 6" at 300 yds. President Trump was very lucky.

Some are saying 300 yards? But yeah, even at that, it's 2000 fpm or so for most standard .223s, so subsonic and suppressed makes sense. Plus, if the shooter thought they would have any chance they'd have to go that route.
I've heard clips of subsonic suppressed .223, and it sounded almost exactly the same. BUT, ordinary microphones aren't designed to accurately capture extremely loud events like gunfire so who knows.

I'd like to hear some comments from the Democrats that recently wanted to take Trump's Secret Service protection away.

Lies and more ****ing lies

I was half joking...less so as each revelation seems to confirm my speculation. There are a lot of questions to be answered...

Where was the shooter, on the roof of a first story building as reported?

How did the counter sniper team (we assume) find him so quickly and eliminate him? It was a split second.
If the shooter was an illegal or a member of an Iranian or ISIS assassination squad, just wait.

The gunman was on a commercial building outside the security perimeter.

Secret Service and local cops provide security so Trump doesn't pay for it.
I believe his campaign is responsible for paying local law enforcement for the extra duty, but they don't set the rate.

BBC just confirmed 'AR style, from 2 to 3 hundred feet away'.

Given the sound profile, and the security perimeter, seems like they meant meters or yards.

Blows my mind you had to spell that out. 🤷‍♂️

Knowing Trump for all we know it was staged. Or this is the republican party's way out.
He staged the deaths of the shooter, an audience member and two others being shot and in critical condition?
