If Jesus is the very nature, God - and He is EQUAL with God - who else can He be?

GOD HIMSELF (as man - Jesus), DIED ON THE CROSS FOR US! Jesus is God!
It also gives the Trinity.



Also, Church of God is referred to as Church of Christ.




Matthew 16:18

Romans 16:16
Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.




Why would Jesus claim the Church to be His own if it's supposed to be God's?

It is also a very bad piece of information. If you look at the term 'created' in hebrew that follows Genesis 1:1 you will see it is in singular form. That makes the previous noun magnified in importance. Somewhat like the royal 'we'. Another example is in genesis 4:16. Moses is referred to an 'elohim' over Aaron. (Lord). That doesn't make Moses plural, but magnifies the important of Moses over Aaron.
 


Furthermore.....

If Jesus is not God Himself - claiming to be "EQUAL with God" - that smacks of sheer vanity!
It's a downright lie!

Jesus made claim to titles that are claimed by, and used for God! Just read them all again!

Someone who tells lies and contradicts the Scriptures...... cannot be from God.
BUT, we do know who is the master of lies and deceits, don't we?

The name, Immanuel, more than just "imply" that Jesus is God.
It declares!

It is supported by both Luke 1 and John 1 (all referring to Jesus' conception and birth)!

John 1 formally introduced THE WORD as God, and Jesus as God Himself, who came as a human.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.


The Word Becomes Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.




Luke 1 declares the role of God (as Jesus).

It does not say the baby whom Mary will conceive, is the Son of God.

It says, the baby WILL BE CALLED the Son of God. TWICE!



Luke 1
30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”

34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I [g]do not know a man?”

35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.




The same is said in Matthew 1. His name, is a declaration that Jesus is God Himself.

23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”



All three verses support, and REINFORCE the fact that Jesus and God are One and the Same!

The Hebrew translation for "LORD" in this verse is Yehovah.

.....................….but, He is also the EXACT REPRESENTATION of GOD's VERY BEING!



In other words, Jesus Christ is the FACSIMILE of God, as a human!


Facsimile means, a reproduction!

Because man's interpretations often cannot be trusted as being correct. There is the Father and the Lord. Two personages. Now, you should be able to justify and accept the teachings of Jesus.
 

Elvira is confused. Yes, Jesus is the reproduction of the Father through the woman, Mary, mother of Jesus. He is the very Lord spoken about in the Old Testament, Jehovah the Son of the Father. Two very distinct and separate personages.

Yes, I understand what you mean. Jesus is God.

But a "facsimile" of God - as a human!
God is Spirit. Therefore, God is not human.

Because Jesus is God Himself who became man...………. thus, He is described as an exact representation of God.



A synonym for a "representation," is "a copy."

Why did you think Jesus said the thief will be with Him on that day in paradise?

Because, while Jesus was going to make a stop-over in hell for 3 days - the thief would proceed to, and be with GOD in paradise!

That part, I agree with...the truth about Jehovah God and Jesus Christ will never die out, though...it prevails today...
