The bid to recall Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao passed by a nearly two-to-one margin on Tuesday night.
Unofficial final election results released early Wednesday by Alameda County showed 65.1% of voters in favor of recalling Thao, the labor-backed progressive who has struggled to build trust around the city during the first two years of her term.
Thao, was elected in 2022 to a four-year term but now appears on her way to being removed from office. The result was the culmination of an expensive recall effort that has focused primarily on Oakland’s crime woes.

Apparently there was also an FBI raid on her home last June, but not much information is available regarding that.
