Folks, Donald Trump has invited an indicted war criminal - Vladimir Putin - to meet him this Friday in Alaska. The supposed purpose is to see if Putin will agree to a cease-fire in Ukraine. The President of Ukraine, the country that was invaded by Putin in 2022 - Volodmyr Zelenskyy - was not invited to Alaska. Just Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin hobnobbing and together deciding on Ukraine's fate with no one there to speak up for Ukraine. Trump already knows Putin's demands. Russia's FM Sergey Lavrov published the Kremlin's demands on Jul 07, 2025 during an interview with the Hungarian publication Magyar Nemzet. "These provisions must be included in a legally binding agreement for peaceful settlement." stated the dour Lavrov.
To wit:
In short, Russia is not penalized in an way for invading Ukraine on 24 February 2022. Ukraine must be "demilitarized". In other words Russia can re-arm itself, but Ukraine cannot field a military to protect itself from a new Russian invasion. Moscow has demanded a different government in Ukraine. No NATO membership or NATO assistence for Ukraine. Moscow gets to annex all Ukrainian territories it currently occupies/semi-occupies (about 20% of Ukraine) and the international community must recognize this thievery as legitimate. Russia pays no reparations to Ukraine. There has been no Russian response about repatriating the thousands of Ukrainian children the Russian military has kidnapped and deported to Russia. All sanctions on Russia must be removed. All lawsuits against Russia must be dropped. In short, everything for Russia.... and nothing except misery and defenselessness for Ukraine.
The above in its entirety is a "poison pill" list of Russian demands. Putin knows very well that Ukraine will never accept such outlandish demands. But KGB Lt. Colonel Vladimir Putin also knows that Donald Trump is a different animal. Putin knows that above all else during his second term as US president, Donald Trump covets a Nobel Peace Prize. In Alaska this Friday, Putin will tell Trump he will agree to a cease-fire if Russia's maximalist demands are accepted. Trump will swallow this Putin bait hook, line and sinker. He will accept Putin's demands and when Zelenskyy says No, Trump will blame Zelenskyy for the war continuing. Zelenskyy has informed Donald Trump more than once that he will never cede Ukrainian land to Russia. The Ukrainian Constitution also forbids doing so. This is why Zelenskyy was not invited to Alaska. Trump doesn't want to hear Zelenskyy throw cold water on his dreams for a Nobel. But mark my words, Donald Trump will stab Ukraine in the back in the belief that doing so will end the war and he can collect his coveted Peace Prize. Zelenskyy matters not. The EU matters not. All that matters to Trump is a surefire way to satisfy his gargantuan ego. That any US president would so transparently stab an ally in the back should be cause for great concern, both domestically and in foreign capitals.
P.S. Putin in Alaska, similar to sending the National Guard into D.C., is another way for Trump to distract the public from his persistent Jeffrey Epstein problems and break the month old Epstein news cycle.
To wit:
Lavrov said an end to the security threat posed to Russia by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's (NATO) expansion, including its potential inclusion of Ukraine, was essential. He demanded the demilitarization of Ukraine to ensure Kyiv's neutrality. Moscow's top diplomat also said his country wants protections for ethnic Russians and Russian culture in Ukraine, which he accused Kyiv of "destroying" since 2014. Lavrov demanded "international legal recognition of the new territorial realities," citing Russian occupation of Crimea, Sevastopol, Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson. And Lavrov also called for "lifting sanctions on Russia, rescinding all lawsuits against Russia, and returning the illegally seized Western-based assets."
