Virginia seems to have struck my voter registration off the rolls

I have a physical VA voter registration card that was issued to me only 3 years ago.

I just went to verify that I'm still registered, and upon trying to login, I was presented with this little gem:

I may not be able to prove it, but I'm convinced that this is directly related to Governor Younkin's illegal voter registration purge.

Unfortunately for him, I caught this in time to get re-registered before the election, in which I wasn't going to vote for him anyway. I'm also warning everyone I know about what he's been doing.

Sorry that you have low-down anti-democratic scumbags running your government.

Thank God I live in California. I just filled out my mail-in ballot tonight, and I do not have to carefully research to make sure that my vote will count on election day.

I'm sorry that this happened to you. I have been checking my status and my wife's status regularly. It's a concern, for sure. I'm glad that you got your issue resolved. My guess is that people are going to show up to vote with no idea that Republicans have already purged them from the rolls.

Wow. What state are you in that you are forced to check in regularly?

If they do not allow you too vote, sue the state in Federal court

Methinks that the government officers engaging in tactical and strategic acts of voter suppression are relying on the fact that most people cannot afford the attorneys or the time to file such lawsuits.

A lot of states in the US also offer election-day-voter-registration. You show up, election clerks are checking your status and if you have the proper picture ID with you, you can get registered to vote on election day.

This is very convenient.

But sadly, not all US states allow this and have voter registration deadlines weeks before election day ...

It’s a conspiracy theory you are making up with zero evidence.
Nothing more

And like most conspiracy theory believers you have convinced yourself that you are right despite having zero evidence.
‘Nothing to see here folks, just keep watching the pretty girls over at FOX News. They’ll never steer you wrong…’

I think this is one of the most important threads on DP, and here's why: Here we have a real world example that these "policies" have a direct impact on real people. People we know. It's not theoretical, it's real and it's impacting millions of people, like a political hurricane. And like such weather events, it behooves us to be prepared with a disaster plan to protect ourselves and our loved ones.

Personally, I find these efforts the most reprehensible acts of hardened criminals and enemies of the United States. I count Youngkin amongst that lot.

I just went to verify that I'm still registered....
Well, you prompted me to check whether my ballot was received. Was happy to see it was "accepted valid."

Was NOT happy to see that my state has roughly 600,000 Republicans and 100,000 Democrats.

My state will probably not be the one, but I'm hoping that at least one state that is fully expected to go for Trump actually ends up with Harris as the winner. I'm thinking there will be a LOT of Republicans that just cannot bring themselves to vote for Trump.

Well, I don't know about that. Did you see the report where an old guy found a bunch of filled-out ballots in a storm drain? In Arcadia, California.

They weren't filled out. They were being delivered. The speculation was that they were mail thieves that dumped non-valuable (to them) mail.

Thanks for the correction. So.... how many people in Arcadia, California are wondering "Where's my absentee ballot?"

A couple of dozen. The finder expected to give them to the post office to get them substituted. The headlines left out important details, so I followed the story to see where it went.

PSA: "If you haven't received your mail-in ballot and you believe it may be lost or even stolen, the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder's website allows you to request a replacement by filling out a form online. You can only do this once."

Update: This was just a big foul up and misunderstanding. Apparently since I live about 2 miles down the road from where I lived before, I'm now registered with the city, not the county. And if you select the wrong locality on that registration page, it acts like it doesn't know you at all. Because that makes perfect sense to someone I guess.

So I take back all my suspicions that I was erroneously purged under governor Younkin's EO. That wasn't the case at all. The problem was a confusing hodgepodge of city vs. county registration combined with a crappy website that has to be spoon-fed the correct form data.

Sigh...

He's still a dishonest piece of garbage engaged in voter suppression. So don't feel too bad - he gave you a reason to be suspicious.

You can still register on Election Day if you are dropped from the rolls.

Glad you got it sorted out.

Well done not only re-registering but tracking down the reason you were kicked off the voter rolls.

you are obviously an illegal alien trying to vote and subvert democracy. Please present your birth certificate and passport!
<SARC>AND provide a complete the affidavits from a chronological list of those persons who can provide a complete and unbroken chain of personal knowledge testifying that you are, in fact, the same person who is shown on that birth certificate.

Your probably spurious claim to be entitled to the privilege of voting in American elections will be processed AFTER each and every one of those persons has been fully investigated and interrogated as to the veracity of their statements purporting to support your supposed claim to be entitled to vote.

We can't be too careful in ensuring that you are not one of 'those people' whose 'bad genes' make them one of 'the enemy within', you know.</SARC>
