Veterans' advocates warn of low morale amid L.A. deployment: 'This is not what we signed up for'

Sure, if you to face AWOL or desertion charges, both of which can result in imprisonment and a Dishonorable Discharge.

No, there is an IG system to contend with controversial commands. I went that route in Vietnam when a young NCOIC tried to exceed his authority, and prevailed.

What branch did you serve in and for how long?
What does serving have to do with having an opinion?

You criticize Trump so when were you president?

They signed up to do whatever the hell they are told to do.

Period
NOT.

It's also the case as I've pointed out in scrolling that military commanders are responsible and accountable for the Esprit de Corps and morale of their force units comprised of their precious troops. You've never heard of Esprit de Corps.

Your dogmatic and rote MAGA posts have no clue of this or of anything military.

Because as far as the armed forces and their uniformed chiefs and commanders are concerned, the Commander in Chief being Trump no longer has the automatic right to be wrong.

The Generalissimo Trump has broken many things that are America and this extends to the armed forces too. Trump as C'nC has broken the historical continuum that the Potus has the right to be wrong and so he is obeyed. Trump just does not have this right to be wrong and this is because Trump is Trump and MAGA are MAGA. Be aware the day is not long off when the military says FU to Trump in domestic matters.

Your simple hit and run MAGA posts reveal absolutely you haven't any clue of the armed forces oath to the Constitution that Trump and MAGAs are torching.

The active duty military has refused already to do the Generalissimo Trump's mad mass deportation brutality and cruelty -- this is not what the active duty military in the USA does. The active duty military is also clear that it will not do any "roundup" of Trump's "enemies within" which we know means all his political opposition. Your dogmatic recitations have no clue of any of this. Indeed, Trump's National Guard military deployment to LA is falling apart already. It's going nowhere fast.

They have the free will to leave.

If you choose to stay in though then you do as they tell you.

You can't run a military by asking if the troops agree with the decisions made.
The ignorance of your posts is overwhelming given that Trump does not "ask the troops" anything.

Trump as C'nC has the strategic generals and admirals that include the Joint Chiefs and their chairman and the commanders and chiefs of the US Northern Command in Colorado whose mission is the defense of North America and our freedoms, rights, liberties, security against all enemies foreign and domestic. US Northern Command has the 5th Army and the 1st Air Force right here in the US.

The troops support their uniformed chiefs and commanders through the chain of command and across the armed forces. Indeed anyone who saw the June 14th Army parade in DC could see the visible, plain and bold disrespect and contempt of the troops toward the Generalissimo Trump to include throughout the chain of command. Not "anyone" could see that actually given some people are incapable of knowing the difference. And of knowing anything military, preferring only gross simplicities about it.

They signed up to do whatever the hell they are told to do.

How about being told to torture people? Or maybe if you were told to strangle kittens? You’d hate it but you would do it?

No, there is a limit. That limit is much more logical to active duty troops and veterans than to civilians. It the nature of the beast.

There are officers and NCOs who don’t understand how, when and why to use authority. I remember an E-6 telling me that an idiot Captain needed to be “sent off to charm school.” Nuff said, I knew exactly what he meant and why.

Mishandle your troops and you will loose their respect for you and possibly endanger them and others.

Once at guard mount at a very spitshined Strategic Air Command HQ where there was so much rank even the smallest of things affected morale. As we stood in formation I remember the Lieutenant giving us orders for the day and a new useless order passed down the chain of command about our uniforms.

A good friend of mine in the rear of formation out of exasperation voiced too loudly to the guy next to him, “****ing with me, ****ing with me”. Everyone heard it. We all felt the same thing.

My friend later got some wall to wall counseling. 😳

I thought this was interesting. What a contrast.

"...Their interactions with the public are far different from those earlier this year, when Newsom deployed the National Guard to L.A. County to help with wildfire recovery efforts after the Eaton and Palisades fires. At burn zone check points, National Guard members were often spotted chatting with locals, some of whom brought food and water and thanked them for keeping looters away. But downtown, soldiers have stood stone-faced behind riot shields as furious protesters have flipped them off, sworn at them and questioned their integrity. During the boisterous "No Kings" protests on June 14, a woman held up a mirror to troops outside the downtown Federal Building with the words: "This is not your job. It's YOUR LEGACY." On a quiet Wednesday morning, a UCLA professor, standing solo outside the Federal Building, held up a sign to half a dozen Guard members reading: "It's Called the Constitution You F—ers."

I suspect that is not what they were told when they signed up. Especially since the Nuremberg Trials and all.
So you think that when soldiers are given an order they should first sit around and discuss to see if they agree with it or not?

"Hey guys, charge that hill."

"Hold on sarge, we have to discuss this first."

There is a process for reporting bad orders but you must still follow them.

Since you were in the military you know that you don't have all the information.

What if those kittens you were ordered to kill were carrying a deadly virus that your commanders couldn't tell you about?

That is absurd. Your post is tripe. No clue.

I understand your misunderstanding. 😉 It’s situational. Military personnel are not slaves. They are not stupid. They are well trained and they know what they are doing. They know when they are misused or disrespected.

Tangmo’s example of the 14 June Army parade is a good example. The soldiers were misused by the Commander in Chief. He should have known better. But those soldiers did as ordered and they did it their own way as directed by someone way up at Army command level. You have to know the troops loved it. Morale must have soared as Army honchos as much as said to Trump do not embarrass us and misuse us as they embarrassed him.

I know plenty of military people that are dumb as rocks.

I also know many that are pieces of shit, prisons have plenty of them in there.

You act as if being in the military somehow doesn't make a person normal anymore.

It's a job they do like anyone else chooses to do a job.

Less than 7% of Americans serve in the military. Every single one makes personal sacrifices for the nation most Americans are not willing to make. Their jobs are often dangerous. You’d be surprised.

You are safe at night because highly trained and disciplined men and women are on duty at home and across the world doing what most others are not willing to do. They do it again and again every night and everywhere.

When the shit hits the fan America looks to it’s military to walk into the breach. That is their job. They could be a cook or a plumber or admin or whatever but they are trained and willing to step up. (I actually watched two electricians in the middle of a rocket attack standing in two feet of water desperately trying to fix a generator that had taken some shrapnel. I knew of an admin guy sitting in the chow hall who was killed by single rocket that somehow landed between protective sandbags and the plywood wall of the chow hall.)

You and Donald Trump may think they are suckers and losers but you depend on them 24/7. You are safe because they are there.

Special? Hell yes they are. With the sacrifices they make they do not appreciate being used or disrespected.

This age 25 US citizen and Army Infantry combat veteran of Iraq with Disabled Veteran California license places was reporting for work at the Glass House Farms when he found himself in the mess that included 7 or 8 ICE Goons who smashed his driver's side window, pepper sprayed him, dragged him out, put their Derek Chauvin knees to his back and neck then hauled him off to the Ice-stapo detention center.

George Retes says he was held for 3 days without being allowed to contact anyone to include missing the 3rd birthday of one of his two daughters. When Retes was released ICE Goons said there were no charges against him and that that is the end of it. Retes says he's going to sue their asses off and also because he's on suspension by the Glass House security contractor until he proves there are no charges against him.

Army veteran detained during California ICE raid speaks out | LiveNOW from FOX

ICE agents in California apprehended Army veteran George Retes while he was on his way to work. He says he was detained for three days with minimal information regarding his circumstances or release.

LiveNOW's Andrew Craft is interviewing Retes about his encounter with immigration officials. Retes, a 25-year-old U.S. Army veteran and security guard at Glass House Farms in Camarillo, said federal agents surrounded his car on July 10. Retes was then taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles and held for three days without being informed of any charges or being permitted to contact a lawyer or his family.

Goons.

Neither the CA National Guard nor the active duty Marines were involved or had any part of this federal civilian Ice-stapo thuggery.

The United Farm Workers Union has issued a statement of support for the 25 year old Army Disabled Veteran of Iraq George Retes for his desire to counterattack in federal court ICE Goons who Retes wants to sue on Constitutional grounds.

A GoFundMe account has been opened to help Retes press his case in federal court. Retes missed the 3rd birthday of one of his two daughters while in Ice-Goon detention to include being unable to contact a lawyer or his family. All Retes panicked wife and sister could find of the US citizen was his car with its smashed driver's window and open door.

When his 3 day detention ended Ice-Goons advised Retes charges against him have been dropped but the arrest stands against him. The US Attorney's office however said it's looking into his case among others for "potential charges." Retes is suspended from his security company work until he can prove he's not been or being charged.

Retes said to Fox LA about the Goon Feds "They gave me nothing I could wrap my head around. I joined the service to help better myself. I did it because I love this (expletive) country. We are one nation and no matter what, we should be together. All this separation and stuff between everyone is just the way it shouldn’t be."

Retes also intends to sue for wrongful detention, stating, "The way they’re going about this entire deportation process is completely wrong, chasing people who are just working, especially trying to feed everyone here in the U.S. No one deserves to be treated the way they treat people." He wants broader awareness, adding, "I want everyone to know what happened. This doesn’t just affect one person. It doesn’t matter if you’re a veteran or you serve this country. They don’t care. They’re just there to fill a quota."

I found out yesterday of the Retes GoFundMe account so I went to it and saw a swarm of $25 donations toward its goal so I kicked in a couple of Ben Franklins.

Thanks. I will do the same.

Who would have thought that the US armed forces might not be ecscatic about being sent to terrorise their own friends and family?
They didn't sign up to fire teargas in US cities.

They signed up to do whatever the hell they are told to do.

Period

So, US troops are just supposed to blindly follow orders?
If a President orders in the troops to shoot to kill everyone in a US town that voted heavily against him that's just what they have to do?

War crimes? Fine, just following orders.
If I become President can I order the troops to confiscate all firearms in the US?

3 - Driving on the propper side of the bloody road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trump has only disdain for the military.
But he likes the general’s uniforms.
Lots of shiny gold bling there.

Just keeps getting better my friend!

He openly mocks troops who get captured or killed as losers and has zero shame in doing so.
He only turns up at military funerals if he really has too.
He used them as a prop for his party we all know was about him and him alone.

Your sentiments are well taken but and as I pointed out in scrolling the federalized National Guard units deployed to LA and the active duty Marines deployed to federal facilities do not engage in Ice-Stapo actions.

Some few 90-100 NG provide "perimeter security" to Ice Goon raid sites to prevent anyone entering during ICE Goon seize and arrest operations. The active duty Marines are positioned only statically at federal buildings and property which in the heat and helmets is a sleepy assignment at all times.

Already and of the overkill deployment of 4000 federalized CA NG troops to LA the Infantry brigade of 2000 has been defederalized and returned to the command of the CA governor. The 2000 federalized Military Police brigade remains to do a lot of standing around watching ICE make a mess of everything they do. The Marines stand around at federal properties watching people and vehicles go by.

And as I've reiterated to numerous threads over time, the active duty armed forces of Army and Marine Infantry -- that are trained to close on the enemy and kill him -- hate, detest and despise being sent into the city streets in America. I have quoted in scrolling some NG troops who've spoken anonymously to MSM and who say this Generalissimo Trump federalized deployment is a "fake mission" and a worst thing the C'nC could do with the military which is to exploit and abuse it domestically as a "political prop."
