Typical socialism. The elites take care of themselves while everyone else starves.

Chucklechan:
This is historically true of capitalism too. So what is your point?
Cheers.

When is the last time our citizens started eating zoo animals? (San Francisco doesn't count)
And you are making light of just how FUBAR they are down there. But with friends like Russia, China, Cuba, Iran, and Hezbollah setting up shop in your country, it should be a workers paradise.
More controversial than what Pompeo said, however, should have been what he implied—namely, that regime change would rid Venezuela of Hezbollah. Whatever the benefits of replacing the current Venezuelan regime with Washington’s preferred alternative, there’s reason to doubt that it would change the country’s problematic relationship with the terrorist group.
Hezbollah has a long and sordid history in Venezuela. A cocaine-smuggling ring active throughout the 2000s and led by a Hezbollah-linked Lebanese national named Chekry Harb, a drug trafficker and money laundering kingpin who went by the nickname “Taliban” and used Panama and Venezuela as critical hubs in an operation that sent narcotics from Colombia to the United States, West Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. Proceeds from the cocaine-trafficking ring were laundered into Colombian pesos or Venezuelan bolivars, with Hezbollah netting between 8 and 14 percent of profits.

Seeing is believing. I challenge Evilroddy to visit these places and see for himself. A government sponsored guided tour doesn't count. If visiting Venezuela, hiring TRUSTWORTHY private security is a must.

SDET:
I've travelled to Cuba, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran, a bit of Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places in Europe, Africa and Asia. I have seen the privation, the misery, the disparity and the despair caused by both extreme capitalism and extreme socialism on four continents. I have never been to Venezuela however, but there are two Venezuelans married into my extended family. One hates the Chavistas with a blinding passion and one is sympathetic to their goals but not to their corruption and incompetence. Both agree however that this is a challenge for Venezuelans to solve themselves and that outside states should not become entangled in Venezuela's domestic issues.
Cheers.

When millions of their people pour into other countries, Venezuela makes it those countries business.

Then relax the sanctions and financial/economic restrictions and allow the Venezuelan state to buy the necessary supplies to relieve some of the shortages which the West has imposed on Venezuela.
There were dire shortages of products in Venezuela long before any Western sanctions were imposed, hyperinflation being the culprit.
