WASHINGTON — Vice President JD Vance said Wednesday that the Trump administration believes Russia is "asking for too much" during talks to bring its war in Ukraine to an end.

“Right now, the Russians are asking for a certain set of requirements, a certain set of concessions, in order to end the conflict. We think they’re asking for too much,” Vance said at a Munich Leaders Meeting on international security policy in Washington, D.C.

Asked about Vance’s comments later Wednesday, President Donald Trump said, “It’s possible that’s right.

Duh.

Acting as though Russia is an honest broker in this has always been rather pathetic and naive. Or has it all been just a show? Who couldn't have predicted that Russia would drag things out and make unrealistic demands when the Trumpm administration makes virtually no demands on them anyway?

I doubt Russia cares if Trump walks away from peace talks anyway. It would have just been an opportunity for them to re-calibrate.

I trust nothing from the Trump administration on really any subject these days, all things Russia of course included in that sentiment.

How it is I can sit in the comfort of my home and know that he was going to ask for "too much". But Trumpco had no ****ing clue.
I mean, I am sure there were signs along the way to help JD and crew out?
Maybe not. Perhaps they should just say "thank you" to Putin and maybe he will mend his ways?

In order to be an earnest peace initiative, one would have to consider Trump, Rubio, Witkoff, and Kellogg as earnest individuals.

A collective impossibility.

I know some trumpists. In talking with them, their reasoning seems to have been that Biden was weak and that’s why Russia invaded. When Trump comes back, they would get all scared and want peace again.

Oh well. I guess that didn’t work out, did it?

Trump certainly isnt exuding strength by threatening to quit the issue.

If you think THAT is dumb, have you ever listened to Trumpers?

I would be scared to ask what are "realistic demands" ? What are realistic demands for the end of proxy war ?
A demand to stop shooting for several days? Or a demand to keep for some time the liberated Donbass and Crimea ?
Until Zelensky muster new troops and deliver new shells for his cannons ?
I just don't understand.
Seems like we are silently moving back to Zelensky 10 points "peace plan"...
Everybody asks about concessions which Russia is ready to offer.
However I haven't heard about any concessions on the side of Ukraine....

You want the victim of a crime to make concessions.

Exactly. Nothing more or less. Nobody seriously believes that either russia or Ukraine wants to negotiate.

But the U.S. is continuing to send weapons, so . . . cue the puppet shows.

We return to 1991 borders and all Russian forces leave Ukraine.

Are you aware of how many have died and suffered wars of conquest? How many more times will the perpetrator be rewarded? That's not a rhetorical question; they'll continue to be rewarded with the spoils of war until they are defeated and end in ruin. How many more lives is Putin going to cost the human race?

Ukraine doesn't have a reason to concede much at all. They could grant more local government control in the Oblates with a percentage of Russians. Otherwise, Putin started the war, broke all treaties and is responsible for all this.

If there's nothing in it for Trump financially he's not going to care too much.

Unless he's watching TV, which he constantly does, and somebody says something bad about him.

Didn't you know? If someone steals your stuff, they get to keep half of it.

It's the way the law works on Bizarro.
A number of Russia supporters here have posted in support of Putin and every once in awhile I'll tell them that I'm coming to take their house and to have all their shit out by 5:00 p.m.

It's funny how their tune changes.
