Vance scolds Denmark during Greenland trip as Trump says US must have island

When the leader and 2nd in command of the most powerful nation on the planet are talking about colonising other nations - and the Russian leader sides with this; the rest of the world takes note mate.

The Danes and Greenlanders are rightly pissed off, as are the Canadians and if they take it as a joke - they are being utterly foolish about it.

This is just the beginning - there are many other nations around the world that are rich in resources that America and Russia could seek to exploit.
Under normal circumstances, sure. Be concerned when Musk stages a visit.
😉

Seriously though, I do understand your point and share the same concerns. I'm being flippant about Vance because he's been relegated to an even less visible role than VPs typically have due to Musk having a more prominent forward facing role. There's a lot still to see in terms of what this administration actually does to act on its imperialistic rhetoric. There's only so much the US can do to acquire new territory, and Donnie Boy painted himself into a corner by being a staunch anti-war/foreign entanglements president. I don't think the US using force to acquire new territory would go over well in this country, because much of what he's proposed is seen as frivolous and capricious.

Seriously, I don't think Putin and Xi will consider that when they say "ah, but Trump started it first.."

Donnie Boy isn't going to antagonize those two. He only attacks those he thinks are weaker than him in typical bully fashion.

Ah, I wasn't clear.
Putin has made it clear he's going to run with what Trump is doing - not to threaten the US but to say, "we can threaten our neighbours too." He said as much in Murmansk this week. Xi has been itching to launch his assault on Taiwan and Trump has already threatened Taiwan over the semiconductor business and made TSMC start building a factory in the USA so as to keep American protection.

I'm nt saying Trump will antagonise anyone - I'm saying his stupid comments are enabling and making Xi and Putin feel they can do it too.

Ah yes, from that perspective it will be a "monkey see, monkey do" scenario because what both those leaders know is the US is under the leadership of someone who has no interest in the former world order.

Greenland is for the Greenlander, not Trumplanders.
