ok, in the grand scheme of things, this is a VERY minor incident
however, it is one which displays how the same incident can be seen differently depending upon the viewers political perspective
if you read the first link, in the comments you will see reference to the professor having sought to have the 'offending' student become seated in a more appropriate manner. it would appear that she declined the instruction and the professor sought security's assistance in removing that student from the classroom:
in reading the second link, there is nothing that tells us professor moss had communicated to the 'offending' student the need to become seated without her shoes on the seat in front of her. it would seem that the security team was requested only because professor moss wanted to treat a black student in a racially disparate manner
when reading the comments in that link, they indicated a universal opposition to the professor's actions and tributed her actions to have been either/and racially motivated or an abuse of authority
given the limited information now available, to me, this appears to be an instance where the professor established an expectation of behavior the student was unwilling to accept. when the student opted not to comply with the professor's instructions security was called to remove the insubordinate student from the professor's classroom
i do also note that the UTSA president has already referenced this as a racial incident, describing the student not as a student but as an african American and made reference to the university's Equal Opportunity office:

while the incident did involve an african American student, there is nothing which indicates the professor's actions were racially motivated, so why identify the student as a minority and have the Equal Opportunity office investigate
