Legal challenges to the drug mixes used.Lethal injection remains the primary method for carrying out executions in the state, Gov. Gary R. Herbert said in a statement. A firing squad would only be used in the event the necessary drugs cannot be obtained.
"Those who voiced opposition to this bill are primarily arguing against capital punishment in general and that decision has already been made in our state," said Marty Carpenter, a spokesman for Herbert.

Why not use the Chinese method- Shot to the back of the head, or a 22 cal, thru the ear canal, bullet bounces around the skull scrambles the brain.
Heart shot is not an immediate killer. Takes a few seconds. Head shot is faster. I say let the suffer their last few seconds on earth.
OK, I'd be down with that.Guillotine? Yes, no or maybe?

As you know I am against the DP.

So? Most people are not. Have someone kill your wife or children, then see if your tune changes on that.
And that is why the death penalty is a bad idea, because however you put it, it is just simply revenge and revenge is never a good idea. You want justice to be impersonal and objective. And I think life in jail is just as effective and just as much punishment as the death penalty (if not worse for the offender).
Seems to be some truth to that, but still not sure the emotional response justifies the practice...

Yea, wrong.
Nay, right.

I don't favor consciously letting anyone suffer, no matter what they have done. My preference is quick and painless. I would use the same method that I would want them to use on me. Shot to the brainstem.
The idea that if you take the life of an innocent you have forfeited your own is about as objective and impersonal as it gets. Plus if life in jail were 'worse for the offender' why does every one of them appeal to have their sentence reduced to life in prison? Answer: because the death penalty IS worse for the offender despite your claim to the contrary. And that is why the death penalty is a bad idea, because however you put it, it is just simply revenge and revenge is never a good idea. Killers deserve to die.
I favor massive and unending suffering followed by a painful death for those with no value on life and for the suffering they have caused many others. But that's just me.
So wouldn't that mean the executors deserve to die?
