US suicides hit an all-time high last year; a main driver is the growing availability of guns

Answer the question and stop with your libertarian mythology. I doubt you can find ANYONE who wants to be on welfare as a preferential lifestyle.
Yes, I can. they are in the inner cities. If they weren't getting paid, they would have to work.

I was a social worker for over a decade and you'd be surprised the number of people who are professional welfare recipients. If they applied half as much energy learning a trade as they do maximizing welfare and gaming the welfare system they'd be off of welfare, and yet...

Well..businesses are not closing shop. It's why tge need for workers and the higher pay.
Businesses are trying to keep up with increased demand.
When businesses start going out of business unemployment increases.
Civilian unemoyment right now is roughly 3.6.
Lower than it was in the mid 2000s when the economy was booming.
This is the same malaise that we experienced during the Carter years. Inflation going through the roof, taxes being raised, gas shortages, interest rates on everything off the charts. Biden is Jimmy Carter 2 except Carter was a nice guy. Biden is mean.

Right.
So your vontention that burger kings will be the restaurants of choice for the rich people??
This kinda goes along with your " prison is filled with college graduates"...
L.ol.
There will be fewer of them in depressed areas. Why do you think the businesses leave Democrat-run blue areas?

Where assisted suicide has been passed the push has always been to expand eligibility. Places like Canada and Netherlands no longer even require a terminal diagnosis, and other places where it is legal the law has expanded to include depression as a terminal illness.

Essentially, if they determine your depression will lead to suicide, they might as well help you...
Most depression is treatable and self-harm attempts are typically regretted. Your extrapolation to desperate end-of-life decisions is inconsistent with good medical practice.

Again, places that have the longest history of assisted suicide show a progressive drift to expanding suicide to include treatable illness like depression. That is the direction of progressive suicide support.

Optimizing resources is a common feature of entrepreneurialism. You libertarians should respect that industriousness and expression of free market exploitation of capital opportunities.

So you think that self-harm attempts by individual suffering from a treatable mental illness is equivalent to an end of life decision by individuals facing prolonged unmanageable and inexorable fatal disease.
There really is not basis for discussion here.

Is "individual suffering from a treatable mental illness" the only category of suicide you have been going on about?

Hmm..under carter..unemoyment was just under 8 percent..
You seem to be struggling Herr.

There will be fewer of them in depressed areas. Why do you think the businesses leave Democrat-run blue areas?
Well..
California..a blue state has a larger economy than several of the red states...put together.
In fact..blue states send more money to the federal government than they get back..
Due to their income.
Meanwhile most red states recieve more federal money than they send to the federal government because of their low income.

How is this possible if Democrat states are all depressed economically?
Please explain.

No. I am using the evolutionary mandate of survival
I see..so your solution is that the elderly..and disabled...the largest recipients if welfare just starve to death because they can't work.
Exain how that works for the economy.

A few posters are mentioning Libertarianism and I am a Right Libertarian in the spirit of Ayn Rand. What we are witnessing today with the societal breakdown and division is because America is no longer Libertarian as it once was. When people mention "immigration" they do a sleight of hand and talk about "We are a nation of immigrants" and leave out two very important things. One is the word ILLEGAL and the other is that the immigrants of decades gone by would not get the social services they get today and that they did not come here expecting to shack up with 10 others in a small house or live on the streets or take advantage of our shelters.

The reason liberals like and want illegal immigration is selfish and self-serving. First, they replenish our failing schools because whites are not increasing in population and secondly, they provide numerous jobs for Democrat government workers.

Someone once crowed that Libertarians are for open borders. If they are, that is predicated on the fact that they would get NO government services whatsoever and if they committed the smallest crime, they would be thrown in jail on the first offense and deported. This alone would stop them from coming here. BUT....employers would have to hire naturalized citizens first and only and no illegal alien could get a job unless the employer could demonstrate a dire need and there was full employment of all citizens.

I never mentioned the disabled or elderly. You did as a diversion.

Please explain.

Federal government spending is allocated to states based on a variety of factors, including population size, economic output, and specific needs of the state. According to data from USAspending1, federal spending varies widely across states. For example, California, a traditionally blue state, received approximately $408.7 billion in federal spending, while Arizona, a traditionally red state, received approximately $104.7 billion1.
When it comes to social services spending, it’s important to note that these expenditures are also influenced by a variety of factors such as the state’s population size, poverty rate, cost of living, and political decisions23. For instance, New York, a blue state, has one of the highest per-capita welfare spending3.

Yep. And still sends more money to the federal government than it gets.
How is that possible when it's economically depressed?

I never mentioned the disabled or elderly. You did as a diversion.
No. I pointed it out as reality.
The elderly and disabled recieve the bulk of welfare.
An elderly person in a nursing home can cost 5500.00 per month for just medicaid.

Oh and children..they also get a good chunk of welfare.

There is little assistance for able bodied 20 somethings.

Don't get mad at me because you fail to think for u ourself and just regurgitate what your right wing masters tell you.

Yep. And still sends more money to the federal government than it gets.
How is that possible when it's economically depressed?
When you account for social services including prisons, police, and support apparatus, it is not even close.

Ummm. As a lbertarian....why do you think the government should tell private business who they can and cannot hire?

When you account for social services including prisons, police, and support apparatus, it is not even close.
Exactly. They can pay for all those things.
AND STILL send money to the federal government!!!
Please explain how this means they are economically depressed.

Yep. And still sends more money to the federal government than it gets.
How is that possible when it's economically depressed?
A 2017 study by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities found that the average taxpayer in a blue state paid $12,300 in federal taxes in 2015, while the average taxpayer in a red state paid $10,700. The study also found that blue states received an average of $13,700 in federal spending per taxpayer, while red states received an average of $12,300.

Ummm. As a lbertarian....why do you think the government should tell private business who they can and cannot hire?
Because otherwise, we would be overrun by illegals from all over the world.

Oh, WAIT. With Biden, we ARE!

Also, see France, and Sweden.
