Holman rule for one...that is a big one. In truth the entire thing is going to end up a slog. The Holman Rule change will just get tossed out.

Holman Rule is one sticking point.

Allowing a motion of recall of the SOTH with only one member moving the motion is another flaw.

Boob McCarthy probably gave Gaetz a committee chairmanship assignment he wanted. However, a whole bunch of moderate R's have come out and said if McCarthy starts giving up chairmanships, they will bail on him.

Depends on if he has given up chairmanships and what the moderates have to say about that. A number of them will have to have been jumped over by the rebel R's if McCarthy has done that. McCarthy might lose some of the moderates now as they will not like being jumped over for chairmanships.

This whole debacle is a clash of egos between unprincipled traitors (morally, if not yet legally). McCarthy brought this on himself and richly deserves the humiliation, and the repeated humiliations that will follow. The problem is, he doesn't have the capacity to recognize it as such, he's that vacuous.

McCarthy is the exemplification of what I've described of conservatives all along: power is their ideology. Doesn't matter how they get it, just as long as they have it. The irony for McCarthy is that he gave away so much of what should have been his powers as Speaker that he won't have much. Ambition for ambition's sake.

Sadly, the miscreants will never fully appreciate their execrable existence. We who are subject to it, however, will be marred by it, as will our institutions. That's the true shame of all of this.

If it were my chairmanship on the liine, I would have forced Kevin to tell me what he is doing. However the R side of the aisle is full of cowards. They are led by coward McCarthy.

Focus on the 6 dissidents: Biggs, Boebart, Crane, Gaetz, Good and Rosendale. If McCarthy can get three “present”, one flip + one or more “present”, or two flips, he probably hits the magic number.
