When will Colombia kick out this vile regime? They are the last government in Latin America who appear stuck in the 1980's with their subservience to the US and anti worker politics. This government are an even bigger threat to peace than the FARC and probably have a far greater disregard for the people.
The mother of a young army corporal held hostage by FARC guerillas for more than 11 years has pleaded with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe to stop playing "political games" and allow the release of her son.

Liberal opposition senator Piedad Cordoba, who has successfully negotiated the release of several politicians and military and police officers kidnapped by the FARC, has revealed that the guerillas intend to release Pablo Moncayo, who was 19 years old when he was taken prisoner in December 1997, without conditions.

But President Uribe, in a characteristic display of intemperance, has threatened to veto Mr Moncayo's release by demanding that the FARC only hand its hostage over to the International Red Cross or to representatives of Colombia's Catholic church - without any politicians being present.

Ha ha ha. Your anacronic ideology won't convince any young latin american. Let's see, your username is Castro, you have in your image a flag of Cuba and the letters PCC (Partido Comunista Cubano).

Do you trust this guy? I am colombian and Uribe is the best thing that has happened to this country in 40 years of violence. Who has the hostages? Uribe? NO, FARC has the hostages, and FARC is the group that is obligated to free them, not Uribe.

That sums up the anti-workers comment. Thankyou for your observation.

Let's expand this thread to discuss how each type of government has benefitted or hurt the Colombian people. Or if you will, how a leftist government would be worse for Colombia, than the current leadership. This will make a much better debate than personal attacks.
