Update: North Korea launches fourth short range missile

LONDON – North Korea has launched three short range missiles from its East Coast, South Korea’s Ministry of Defense reported this afternoon.Two missiles were launched this morning with a further launch taking place this afternoon.
“A more detailed analysis will be needed but the missiles launched may be a modified anti-ship missile or the KN-02 surface-to-surface missile derived from the Soviet era SS-21 that has a range of about 120 kilometers,” a Seoul official told Yonhap News agency.
The launches come after the U.S. supercarrier Nimitz engaged in training drills with the South Korean navy earlier this week. Pyongyang called the joint naval action “a grave military provocation to unleash a nuclear war.”
“These three missile tests can be seen as a scheduled drill in reaction to the USS Nimitz and the U.S.-ROK marine force exercise held recently,” North Korea expert Steve Chung told NK News.

North Korea has launched 4 missiles in response to US and South Korea military drills. The missiles were from Soviet era from what i understand. Same **** different day coming from the DPRK.

North Korea fires fifth missile in three days.....

SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea fired its fifth short-range missile in three days on Monday and condemned South Korea for criticizing what it said were its legitimate military drills.

South Korea's Defense Ministry said a missile had been fired on Monday morning, according to the South's Yonhap news agency, although it was unclear what type of missile was used.

"These launches are its tactic of signaling to the world that the regime is willing to negotiate now, while at the same time saving face," Kim Yeon-su, a professor at Korea National Defense University in Seoul, which is part of the Defense Ministry, said of North Korea.

There appears to be little prospect of talks between North Korea and the United States as Washington insists that Pyongyang needs to abandon its nuclear weapons program, something the isolated and impoverished state has said it will not do.....snip~
