UK and France 'in talks' to deploy troops to Ukraine over fears of US removing support (1 Viewer)

The majority in the east want to be part of Russia.

Russia has already succeeded in the goal of the Donbas and land bridge to Crimea. You need to get that clear.
Putin's goal is to take Kiev and parade his hammer & sickle flag through the streets. That will never happen. Putin is bankrupting Russia and when they fail Ukraine will get back all their territories under the 1991 Treaty. That treaty will stand so get that clear. Putin has violated the terms of the Kaliningrad treaty also and must forfeit that territory too.

No, Russia now includes the Donbas, Zaporizhzhia and of course Crimea. That will remain that way. Get that clear.

Seceding from Ukraine and joining Russia never had majority support even back in 2014.
Besides that is immaterial anyway. Citizens cannot withdraw from a country without the approval of the country. Ukraine never gave them any approvals. It is just another ludicrous meritless argument.

They finally come out and admit it. But the war supporters will ignore that and fall for the war propaganda for the next war.

Are you under the impression the American Empire no longer exists?

Negotiating basing rights is not imperialism. It is in fact the opposite of imperialism. You are asking for the right to do it, asking for use of appropriate land, and paying for it.

Indeed it is not. The host country can, and has, terminated agreements for US bases on their soil.
The US peacefully withdrew from those bases. If this is 'American Empire', the US really sucks at it, simply leaving when asked.

Several countries have either directly or indirectly caused U.S. military bases to be closed within their territories for various reasons, including national sovereignty, public protests, changes in foreign policy, or diplomatic disagreements. Here are some notable examples:
  • Philippines: In 1992, the Philippines did not renew the lease for U.S. bases, including Subic Bay Naval Station and Clark Air Base, due to significant public opposition and a nationalist movement against foreign military presence. This led to the closure of these bases. However, the U.S. military has since returned to the Philippines under different agreements like the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA), which allows for rotational presence rather than permanent bases.
  • Iraq: In 2011, U.S. troops withdrew from Iraq, leading to the closure of bases there, following the expiration of the U.N. mandate and a lack of agreement on the legal status of U.S. forces. However, U.S. military personnel returned in 2014 to train Iraqi forces against ISIS, leading to a partial reopening of some facilities.
  • Eritrea: The U.S. Army base in Eritrea was closed in 1977 due to the country's political changes and the eventual independence movement.
  • Panama: The U.S. military bases in Panama, including Howard Air Force Base and Fort Clayton, were closed following the transfer of the Panama Canal Zone back to Panama as per the Torrijos-Carter Treaties, with the last troops leaving by the end of 1999.
  • Morocco: U.S. bases in Morocco were closed in 1963 and 1977 due to shifts in Moroccan foreign policy and the end of Cold War dynamics.
  • Libya: The U.S. left its base in Libya in 1970 following a change in government and policy under Muammar Gaddafi.
  • Saudi Arabia: U.S. bases were closed in 2003 but later reopened due to changing geopolitical situations, particularly related to the War on Terror.
  • Uzbekistan: The U.S. was asked to leave its base at Karshi-Khanabad (K2) in 2005 after disagreements over U.S. military operations and human rights issues.
  • Kyrgyzstan: The U.S. was asked to leave Manas Air Base in 2009 due to concerns over U.S. operations and after Russia offered Kyrgyzstan financial incentives to close the base.
  • Niger: Recent posts on X mention that Niger has severed military ties with the U.S., leading to demands for the closure of U.S. bases, including a significant drone base. This reflects a trend in recent years where countries might reconsider U.S. military presence due to sovereignty issues or shifts in foreign policy.

Again with the Nazi BS? Ukraine's President is a jew. What you call pro-nazi's are really just anti-Russian. Putin calls all western nations "Nazis" for the same reason. God knows that Ukrainians have a multitude of good reasons to hate Russia. Putin is now a fugitive and charged with genocide in Ukraine. He has started the first full scale war in Europe since Hitler too. The Russians are acting like Nazi's not Ukrainians.
How many Ukrainian Nazis voted for Zelensky?

he dismal failure of the Russian military to immediately seize Kyiv showed NATO leaders that the battle lines in eastern Ukraine are the place to make their own stand too. In other words, eastern Ukraine is Russia's new and permanent border at Europe in its west.
How did Putin expect to seize Kiev with a population of millions and defended by thousands of troops with only a few thousand Russian assailants?

Putin's goal was to secure Donbass and that is exactly what has transpired in spite of the CIA's best efforts:

An opinion piece that changes nothing.

The president ran away. Russia invaded. Twice.

"2014....when Russia first invaded and stole Crimea & parts of Donetsk & Luhansk"
The president ran away after Nazi snipers murdered police officers and protestors alike. The president was duly elected, and he agreed to early elections that would have settled the issue at the ballot box.

Nazis knew better.

Again ... Ask the citizens of Ukraine cities devastated by Russian bombing how it looks.

So, yes Russia illegally annexed Crimea.
The citizens of Donbass have exactly the same views on the destruction of their cities by the proxy forces of a US puppet government in Kiev.
