Reading what some people post on DP might cause others to think the Russian has a better grasp of American politics than many Americans.

“There isn’t a single country in the world that is as easily manipulated as America,” said Russian parliament member Oleg Matveychev during the broadcast of Sunday Evening With Vladimir Soloviev.

Are all Americans falling for the propaganda that is essential to Tucker Carlson's nonsense or Lara Logan's increasingly disturbing claims? Nah, I don't think so, but 10% of the population is more than 30 million people who apparently have little knowledge of what is actually taking place in the world.

In Putin's Russia, how much of what is out on public media has to be approved by the Kremlin before it is released?

 
I'm not surprised.

The post-WWII world left us at a massive advantage. The enemy was crushed. The USSR crushed itself whilst rising and both got crushed and crushed itself further during WWII. So much of Europe was decimated. Summer time really was easy living, and was year-round. That lasted decades. We surged while everyone crawled, then staggered, then, then then...

What do the effects include? Not thinking one needs to try as hard because things are taken care of. That and the moment you think you know exactly what your doing are the two situations in which you are most likely to screw up.

Easily manipulate? Of course. Complacency is an invitation.
 
It's more complicated than that, but in a sense he's right. How do you compare totalitarian states, especially China, who are far more manipulated but at great expense and effort, with the US which has more freedoms but is easier to just take advantage of all of its open systems? It's a lot easier for China to spread lies in the US (and they just increased their budget doing so 500%) than for the US to spread truths (or lies) in China.
 
Probably a better example of American gullibility would be that (allegedly) 80 million people thought Joe Biden would be a good President.
 
Generalisations can obviously be dangerous but Americans as a race are the most gullible and poorly informed group that I have met .

Friendly and hospitable but so parochial .
 
We do have a large number of people who will believe anything this one old dude with a weird tan (and weirder hair) will say.

The good news is that if you tell them in a stern voice that Jesus wants them to do something, they'll go do it for you, and if you tell them to buy your made-in-China crap with one of the weird old dude's slogans on it, you can take their money consequence free.

So, they do serve a purpose.
 
It's takes a strong leader to not go to war .....one that can pragmatic, practical, sensitive, smart and show diplomacy.

Therefore Putin is a weak individual that must be macho in fear of not appearing man enough.
