Newly-released video showing police officers brutally beating a University of Maryland student is raising questions as to whether the officers lied in a sworn statement to cover up their actions. The video directly contradicts the officers' sworn statements after the events, and already, one officer has been stripped of his powers as the Prince George's County police chief promises a full investigation.
Other students on campus said the attack on McKenna wasn't the only time that police beat students the night of the basketball game. One student told WJLA-TV that he witnessed at least five attacks, and McKenna's lawyer has a theory explaining why.
you should have entered a point , a counterpoint or somce position!!! Al you have at this time are videos I think.
We've been a police state for a long time now. Can you imagine how many brutal beatings don't get caught on tape?OK, fair enough.
This sort of thing needs to be exposed and protested, or we're likely to descend into a police state.
How's that?

I would suspect that this young man is being hounded to death by lawyers.I don't know, but one is too many.

You know, typically, I would cover all bets saying that the cops will get off. I mean, historically, most of the time, they always do. But this time, I'm not so sure.
The days of cops beating the **** out of people simply because they usually get away with it, are nearing an end.
However, I don't think they will ever stop beating the **** outta people in L.A. or New Orleans. It's tradition there. Who are we to buck tradition?
Police abuse their authority routinely. That is what happens when you give a group absolute power backed by the local government and little supervisory force monitoring their actions. Self-reporting doesn't work as they can easily lie, and the justice system tends to take the word of police over the public any day.
In Canada there have been numerous scandals against the RCMP (our equivalent of the FBI) in the past two years, a couple of cases which led to public inquiry, and the whole thing has been a joke. The RCMP is blatantly protected by the government no matter how obvious it is to the intelligent members of the public who can see that abuse happened.
Cops get off easy.
The other officers involved who lied to cover for their cop buddies are guilty of corruption of justice and conspiracy. All of them need to be serving life without parole in general population.
The kid deserved it
The kid deserved it
Why?
They have been trusted by the public and they betrayed that trust. For this, they will be fired from their profession, prosecuted, and ruined. That's far more than any civilian would get for lying under oath in courts these days and far more than the general American in a public fight.
Life in prison? Murderers get less than that. Hell, even Islamic terrorists are given sympathy. Free Gitmo, but "**** the police."
Wrong.
Please refrain from spreading your hate in this thread.

In the March 3 video, student John McKenna, 21, is seen skipping down a street, celebrating his school basketball team's win over Duke. He comes to a stop before two mounted police officers, and backs away from them. A second later, three officers in riot gear ram into the student and begin beating him with batons. The officers struck McKenna more than a dozen times, leaving him unconscious and bleeding in the street.
It's not exactly hating. It's a situation that got out of hand, but inciters of bad crowd behavior have caused lots of damage from riot to riot. If they ignite the beatings of people via a riot than perhaps they should rate one too.
Top,
The kid was walking down the street in a dance step. I cannot see how that merits a beating from the police.
I realize the dangers of rioting but this guy was buy himself, walk-dancing down the road.
Did I miss part of the video?
I dunno.... I just do not see how he deserved a beating.
