Possibly mentally ill Ethiopian Israeli apparently crossed border fence of his own free will, and was captured in September 2014; citizen from Hura also reported to be in captvity.

he was actually detected by the security cameras and a patrol reached him, but he was already on the other side (jumped over the fence) and didn't answer the calls of the soldiers to halt.

As someone that is familiar with the area personally and the work of the forces there...well at least in the not so distant past, I find that "explanation" very unsatisfying to say the least.

According to the article, very little is known about the mentally ill civilian, the degree to which he is mentally ill and / or if he is a danger to himself or others

I hope your concern for incarcerated individuals will extend to all harshly imprisoned individuals of all Races, Creeds & Cultures.

Before you conclude that Hamas has a monopoly on cruelty & barbarism, I hope you'll also consider that Palestinian Children are being held in Israeli jails while they are being "Systematically Abused" & "Electrocuted to Extract Confessions" or even the thousands of Native Palestinians Political prisoners being held by Israel without charges or under frivolous pretenses.
