Two House Republicans violate security procedures and are first to face new $5,000 fines

I'm surprised Boebert wasn't one of them. She'd easily be able to pay the fine, after her 'mileage' reimbursement.

Give it time. I'm sure they'll start lining up to collect these fines so that they can make themselves look like victims in the eyes of their extreme base and grift even more money from them.

I'm trying to remember my history, was the Capitol officer the first murder to take place in our nations Capitol???
No he wasn't not in more recent history anyway 2 officers one a Capitol hill officer 1 I believe was a federal officer of some kind were both shot and killed in the capital in the the 90's.
Of course you have from the 1800's fighting, caning and shooting between actual Congress members.

When will the Trump losers show us in the Constitution where it says the House must allow weapons on the House floor?
What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?

I heard Pelosi violated "procedures" too but I can't elaborate because I just picked up a couple words of the story in passing the TV. It's not important enough to me to bother to look for a story, but there was a bit of laughter about it as it was being discussed on TV.

The House can set it own rules. That's also in the Constitution.
They can -- and should-- ban weapons from the floor.

Republicans now think “rights’ means “I can endanger as many people as I want, just as the founders demanded”.

At the pace that the GQP is going, we're about three to six months away from one of them claiming that doing a school shooting is protected by the Second Amendment.

garnish their wages. that's what would happen to any of us. i have zero sympathy for those who won't follow security procedures after an insurrection.

Okay what tbe **** are you on about this time???

The Capitol was stormed by terrorists.

Tbe police officer was beaten to death with a fire extinguisher.

How In any stretch of the imagination is that not murder???

Did he officer maybe fall repeatedly head first onto the fire extinguisher until death overcame him, therefore just being an accident???

You know. Like the biker In the parking lot outside of an outlaw biker bar with a knife in his back.

Or was it suicide by fire extinguisher???

You know all the bikers swore he was a clumsy sorta fellow, he was bound to fall on that knife for a couple weeks ( with apologies to to one of tbe great comedians of all time, Ron Shock)
Wait, what? Did they just find him lying dead in the Capitol? Was he next to a fire extinguisher or something? Is that what you are saying?

Let's try to see if you're playing dumb.

The Capitol was attacked and he's dead. I believe he had serious head trauma because they thought he was hit on the head with one or more large fire extinguishers. I believe he is the one that was face-down on an outdoor stairway with several people beating on his body with their flagpoles (Trump/Confederate/neo-Nazi flags). I'm going to guess that an autopsy declared his death was due to murder. I'm going to guess that investigators are investigating his murder.

They are very likely going to charge at least one person with his murder. If they can't figure out exactly when and how he died, they can very likely pin it on the people beating on his body on the stairs.

I'm thinking they're going to get witnesses that will identify who did the worst damage to him, inside the building.
Why in the world would they not know exactly when he died?

First, I didn't know if the officer on the steps was a different one or not.

For several reasons, with some overlap:

Unless it's completely obvious that a person died instantly, and there's video or some way to know the exact time, then the exact time is unknown.

Because he was likely assaulted by several people, so it'd be difficult to know which person administered and/or which assault was the fatal one, or more than one.

Because nobody was there monitoring his vital signs.

I assume he died in the building. If he died with medical attention, then that's a different scenario.

Do I have the right to carry a machine gun into your home?
No...unless I give you the right.

(I'm not part of Congress. Read the Constitution.)

The Capitol terrorists stood their ground. It’s good to have faces like Gohmert representing the New GQP for the 2022 elections.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think that you don't know many of the facts of this case. That's ok.

Oh, yeah, he died a couple days after the attack, didn't he?
----

It's not clear what happened:
During the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, Sicknick was a member of the police department's first responder unit.[4] The day after the storming, Capitol police stated he had been injured while physically engaging with protesters. Two anonymous officials said Sicknick had been struck by a fire extinguisher.[9] This was later proven to be false, as video evidence shows no such attack, and the medical examiner found no blunt force trauma.[1]

He initially texted his brother later that night, reporting that he had been twice attacked with pepper spray and was "in good shape". He later collapsed at the Capitol, and was resuscitated by CPR. By the following day, he had experienced a stroke and had a blood-clot, and was surviving on a ventilator. Premature reports of his death spread among law enforcement circles, which led to confusion among journalists and Sicknick's family until Capitol police denied the rumors an hour later. Capitol police later reported that Sicknick had died around 9:30 pm on January 7. Family members had not yet arrived at the hospital when he died.[4]

I don't really care about Mycroft, but he wasn't playing dumb.

Can they use other people's money to pay that? What happened to them when they refused, were they refused entry?

It is almost impossible to bar a legislator from entering the chamber. It's spelled out in the constitution.

So what happened? Were they allowed on the floor possibly with guns?

I watched an interview of one of the Congressmen who have violated these un-constitutional rules is up to 25,000 in fines and he has filed a lawsuit against the rules pushed by the House leadership and her Democrat minions.. He will win his case if it is based on the Constitution.
Why would you say that? I see Article 1, Section 5, Clause 2 saying the congressman will lose.

I don't know, but technically you can't stop a legislator from entering a chamber when it's in session, so I guess they just fine them.
