Twitter ends its ban on covid misinformation.

Perhaps you don't see the possibility that he is saying that ending that ban is nothing like free speech for the obvious reason: the term "free speech" only has meaning in relation to the right to free speech against government adverse action based on the content or place or time of speech.

Otherwise it's an empty term. A right to free speech against....whom? A principle of free speech meaning...what? That you can force a private business to host whatever speech? Idiotic in the profane. Nobody advocating that would sit tight if I shoved my way into their house, set up a podium in their living room, and gave a 12 hour speech using an amp putting out 125 decibels.

It's just another typical example of people invoking constitutional terms to try to give their arguments more hit points. It doesn't do the latter and it is much more often done by various persons somewhere on the right.

Good luck convincing a court that Twitter should be treated as a state actor for 1st Amd. purposes to whomever tries. The trouble with making legal arguments in court is that someone has the power to tell you that you are wrong and then make you go away.

One would think that this would kill more Republican parents (% wise).

Understandable since many on twitter do nothing but use it as an attack vehicle regardless of whether what they are saying is true or not. Nothing like enabling the bullshit. Most of the folks on the right trust nothing as it is now, so let's splatter more misinformation all over the place, that should help.

I wonder if the Republicans perform significantly better in the mid terms had a disproportionately large amount of their base not decided to win Darwin awards by refusing to take basic precautions during the pandemic?

To make thing worse for ole Elon, the EU just threatened to shut Twitter down in Europe if he doesn't tighten up his ship. I am not sure what persentage of Twitter users are in Europe, but I am sure it's a large chunk.

Way to go Musk.

I'm going to I did tweet that now it's allowed to tweet Elon Musks's blood cures Covid.

Twitter ends its ban on critical thinking alternative views on covid misinformation.

There. Fixed it for ya! You can thank me later. ;)

ha ha. like Lockdowns and masks accomplish stopping the infections spread/ like vaxxing stops the spread
all that "disinfomation" came from "reliable sources"

I wont even get into palliatives

When "conservatives" claim Twitter had a bias against "conservatives", this is it: they want to be able to share disinformation. Normal every day boiler plate conservative policies of yesteryear were never moderated. Just lies and more damn lies is what Twitter was trying to clamp down on.

But that is what passes for modern day "conservatism". That is why I can't be part of that party (Repubs). It's lies, social grievance, and people who are different from the "norm".

Someone said "lies" are not "free speech". Certainly they are, but it appears some lies are off limits (fire in a theater, etc.). People lie all the time and are free to do so. Lies that harm the public (demonstrably) are likely violations (depends on the courts, eh).

Twitter is turning into the new cult. Of Musk. I noticed alot of pro-Musk bots popping up. Positive Musk automated (suggested) tweets are high.

Why do these people admire rich morons?
