Nearly 20 years after the deadly shooting at the school that took the lives of 13 people, today's students at Columbine High School have started the campaign to turn the tide in the psychology of gun violence.
"We're numb, stuck in a loop, seeing the same images over and over again. So how do we end the cycle?" a video on the campaign's official Twitter page begins. "Sometimes it takes seeing the worst of humanity to bring out the best. The graphic photo of Emmett Till's body helped spark the Civil Rights Movement. Napalm girl helped influence the end of the Vietnam War. And Alan Kurdi created international awareness about the refugee crisis. These images changed the world for the better because we couldn't look away, yet when a shooting happens we're sheltered by the horrors behind the headline. No more."
"If names, stats, and studies aren't going to make a difference, then maybe the graphic images of our death will," one student says in the video while holding up her ID card with the #MyLastShot sticker on it.
Today is the 20-year anniversary of the tragic shooting in Colorado.
Those people that survived will never forget.

So the numerous laws that two Kamikazes violated, didn't stop them, so they think they can bludgeon gun rights with pictures of dead bodies. As usual, high on emotional tripe, low on actual common sense

This is why we need armed faculty and staff in schools.Today is the 20-year anniversary of the tragic shooting in Colorado.

More than 30 people were probably killed LAST NIGHT by drunk drivers.
Why is it that we're talking about Columbine 20 years later, but nobody has a peep to say about this other easily solvable problem? Could it be that most people only want to solve problems if doing so only requires OTHER people to make sacrifices?
And why is "my last shot" just about publishing images of people killed by gun violence? Why not the victims of drunk and leadfoot drivers, who are far more numerous?
I think this is mostly about politics. People like the Columbine survivors in the parkland survivors and so forth are used as tools or pawns in a game of political chess.More than 30 people were probably killed LAST NIGHT by drunk drivers.

all those dead people in traffic accidents don't forward an anti-gun narrative. And why is "my last shot" just about publishing images of people killed by gun violence? Why not the victims of drunk and leadfoot drivers, who are far more numerous?

The more they freak out and get these people to carry on about how guns ruined someone's life the more likely they will be to not even listen to somebody who has a differing opinion.
It's not about the people who died, it's as clear as day when you point out that 30 people died last night from drinking and driving accidents.
Every death is a tragedy. But when you can use it as political leverage people are going to.
all those dead people in traffic accidents don't forward an anti-gun narrative.
Basically put its emotional blackmail.

i mean, murder and car accidents aren't really the same, even if you're talking about drunk drivers. compare the number of people killed with guns to the number of people INTENTIONALLY run over by cars, and see how that stacks up. i'll wait.
also, if guns had even HALF of the rules that we have on cars, this kinda **** wouldn't happen nearly as often.
the only difference is intent the result is the same. Are you trying to save lives or are you trying to politicize a mass murder. a life is a life one's not worth more because it was ended a certain way. Is it?i mean, murder and car accidents aren't really the same, even if you're talking about drunk drivers.
Why?compare the number of people killed with guns to the number of people INTENTIONALLY run over by cars, and see how that stacks up. i'll wait.
So there should be laws pertaining to tire tread thickness lights and mirrors on a gun? there should be a certain speed limit for driving your gun? You would have to use a turn signal when making a left turn with your gun?also, if guns had even HALF of the rules that we have on cars, this kinda **** wouldn't happen nearly as often.

of the idiotic things I've seen come out of this debate that takes the cake.
A gun is far safer than an automobile that's why there's not nearly as many people accidentally killed with them as there are cars.
also, if guns had even HALF of the rules that we have on cars, this kinda **** wouldn't happen nearly as often.
So by having armed security in schools and other such places that will crush their dreams as there will be no more shootings. The anti-gunners see gun deaths as a gift. Without them, they wouldn't be able to tug at peoples' emotions about banning guns.
They can't wait til there's another headline creating shooting.
true but we already have laws against murder.people will die due to natural causes and accidents, and i'm certainly not saying we shouldn't do anything about those either, but MURDER is definitely a bit more serious, even if the numbers aren't as big. intent makes all the difference.
we have a lot of laws regarding vehicles and traffic because it is an interaction with the public. A vehicle has an immense amount of force far more than any gun. and we drive them around with other people driving their cars around all the time. We don't do that with guns.i'm sorry if you're not smart enough to translate safety from one object to another without taking it so literally.
I simply know the difference between a car and a firearm. There are more laws governing vehicles and motor traffic because it is a lot more dangerous.maybe you should go do something that doesn't require quite as much of your brain, since you clearly have issues with that.
How bad were the car accidents you've been in?I've been in several car accidents I've never been shot.
How bad were the car accidents you've been in?
So I should be able to buy a gun without having to go through any background check, is that what you're saying?
How bad were the car accidents you've been in?
Define bad in this context.
Car accidents can range anywhere from a fender bender where nobody gets hurt to a very bad crash where somebody gets killed. Now obviously you've never been in a car accident where you've been killed otherwise you wouldn't be here posting, but have you ever been badly injured in a car crash? Ever have any broken bones or teeth knocked out? Ever been in an accident where somebody was killed? (Somebody other than you of course.)
