I hope New Zealand is spared substantial damage. Good luck to all Kiwis in low lying areas.

Be well and be safe Bodhi. That goes for all your fellow country men and women.

Be well.

8.1 is pretty high.

Stay safe, Bodhi!

That looks serious.

I dread to think what would happen if a Tsunami hit East Anglia in the UK.
This place is as flat as a pancake and nowhere is very high above sea level.
The East of England would be totally screwed.

I hope everyone in New Zealand is safe and well.

2.30 am in the morning and I wake up to nearly a minute worth of the house physically moving from side to side. Not enough to break anything but enough to feel every shake.

The worse thing about earthquakes that make them different from every other disaster is not the quake itself but the after effect of waiting to see if it is the start of the " big one".

But the really worrying part is that it was not just one but three quakes of 7. and 8. magnitude. That is quite rare.
