So I have seen several of these videos lately from various churches with the basic message being "don't trust in man, trust in God". The first link/video is the first one I saw, then several more were found.

In my view, this is really awful in several ways.

First, their god didn't catch the person either. So then why should you put your trust in a deity for this sort of thing if they aren't going to catch you for that, ever? At least with trusting a person for a trust fall, you are much more likely to get caught at least some of the time.

Second, this sends a really bad message about trust itself. We need to trust in each other, as people, regardless of our religious beliefs. "Don't put your trust in man" is a truly horrible message to put out there. It undermines society, humanity.

Also, why would you go to a church that is telling you "don't trust us" since they too are made up of "men"?

What are your/other feelings?

For some reason I'm now wondering if distrust in man is the goal, so a deity is the only possible remaining trust option.

How do you know the video isn't staged? I didn't see the head of the girl.
I'm only reacting to the first intro with that guy talking.
Mind you, I'm not on tiktok - so I couldn't access it all.

I've never heard it said "don't trust in man, trust in God" without it being given in a certain context - depending on the subject of the sermon.
Surely, you don't think God catches us in ways you expect?
Visibly?

It depends on circumstances.

Trusting in God does not necessarily mean, like, you won't trust a doctor.
How do you know God didn't provide that doctor with the way to heal you?

Where did intelligence comes from? Why are we given critical thinking?
We need to apply it!

You know when they say, GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS?
That's true.

Why does it matter?

The point isn't whether someone got hurt or not (it is possible even with a staged video). It is that they are undermining trust in other people, actual people that we know are there in reality.

See my explanation.

When we hear a pastor preaching, ""don't trust in man, trust in God".............we have to know within what context he's saying that.

You can't invoke that phrase and attach it to all churches.

I'm just talking about these churches that have picked up on this stupid trend of trying to claim we shouldn't put trust in man by screwing up trust falls.

I provided video. No god caught that person either. So there's no reason, based on these videos (or anything else I've seen, but that's for a different thread) to put your trust in god, any god, over any men since we know that at least some times, people will catch other people. Some people aren't trustworthy, but I see no evidence any god is trustworthy. In fact, the only ones claiming any god is trustworthy are other men/people.

"God works in mysterious ways" is just excuses. That's people making excuses to account for their "god" not doing things as claimed, and usually taking credit for either things other people do or chance.

Psalm 146 KJV

3. Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man,
In whom there is no help.
4. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.
5. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God:

4. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.
5. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the LORD his God:

But that was written by men.

So no reason to trust it.

Right?

What do they mean? In what context do they say that?

Like I've said - it's about the CONTEXT!

What exactly was the subject the pastor preaches, why he said that?

That's your opunion. 🤷

Many folks are applying pressure on GOD to show SPECTACULAR miracles.
That's not usually how it happens.

Countless miracles are happening every day................but it's happening on a personal basis.

Of course, when you keep watch and lwait for something you expect to come from the right side..........................chances are, you won't see the ones that come from the left. :)

Excuses continue. Watch the video. It clearly shows someone setting up a trust fall, and then before the person falls back, the "catcher" moves and says only that you shouldn't trust man, you should only put your trust in god. Come to our church. There is nothing else there to consider in relation to your arguments.

I don't care what you think your god could show, there is no evidence of it happening. Miracles are not happening. You don't have evidence of them, you have claims. A miracle certainly didn't happen in any of those videos I'm talking about, where the person who fell was magically prevented from falling or went unharmed at all only because of a miracle of unknown origin stopping or cushioning it without preparation from humans. There is no evidence of nonhuman intervention in any of these videos.

An anecdote comes to mind:

A man prays fervently to GOD to save him, in the middle of a storm as he watches the flood start to come inside his house.
Soon, a rescue boat came up with a load of people.
"I've got room for one more! Jump in!" called out the man in the boat.
The religious man answered, "It's okay. My God will save me. Take those people to safety. I'll manage."
So, the boat left.

The water rose up, and the man continued with his praying.
A boat came by the window with a load of people.
"I've got room for one more! Jump in!" called out the man in the boat.
The religious man answered, "I have faith in my GOD. I trust Him. He will save me."
"The water is really rising fast!" the boater argued.
But the religious man shook his head and said, "Take those people to safety. God will save me."
So, the boat left.

Fifteen minutes later, the religious man was up on his roof! That's how fast the water rose.
A boat came by, and the man in the boat called out, "I CAME BACK FOR YOU! This is your last chance!"
But the religious man was clinging to his faith in GOD. "GOD WILL SAVE ME!"
The boat left.

Long story short: the religious man died in the flood.
The last time a drone showed him in the news, he was up clinging to his tv antennae.

The religious man found himself in heaven, and face-to-face with God.
"Why didn't you answer my prayers?" he cried to God.

God answered: What do you mean I didn't answer your prayers! I sent the boat to you - THREE TIMES!

Excuses continue. Watch the video

I can't access it.

Looking back to my own experience - I marvelled the many times GOD had cushioned and rescued me. Even while I was astray.
It is a personal thing, Roguenuke.

Because you don't believe God exists - it's natural that you brush off even the times that you, unknowingly, were helped by GOD.
It's true that it's mostly thru hindsight that we see the hands of God working in our lives.

You don't get it do you? The people were the ones that did the job, not any god. The people help each other.

How do you know people had done the job - not on their own - but because of GOD?
You don't know.

You only have evidence of people doing it. That's the only objective evidence we have. Anything else is opinion.

I have my own evidence - they happened to me!

But - you can't speak of any evidence to support your opinion, can you?

people doing it.

God can use people or anything He wants to use.

No. You have anecdotes based solely on your already held beliefs. Nothing more.

You have no objective evidence of any kind of any god doing that. I'll stick with giving credit to people, rather than an imaginary narcissist.

Hahaha - funny you should use TIKTOK!

Isn't TikTok spreading disinformation?

TikTok’s search engine repeatedly delivers misinformation to its majority-young user base, report says

Don't trust TikTok! 😁

Are you saying these people aren't really part of churches at all?

All those churches are real churches I've checked so far regarding these videos.

Here's one
