Trumps Use Of The Word "Reich"

I watched the video, and listened to a Trump spokeswoman's explanation that the video wasn't created by the campaign but reposted by a staffer who didn't see the quote referencing "reich." Trump has since removed the video from his site.

One of two things - either a) Trump and his campaign are getting trolled/exploited by neo-Nazis and he has no one doing quality control to keep him from looking like a wannabe fascist, or b) this is one more example of Trump playing footsie with dangerous exrremists for perceived personal gain.

Incompetence, or authoritarian aspirations.

What happened in April of 1988?

It was a wink to the far right brigade for sure. Then they play the ooops it was an error.

Pull the other one Trumpers

Not much of a wink since it couldn't be seen unless you paused the video, zoomed in and squinted.

FAIL! Having some fractional overlap on a Venn Diagram does not make them synonymous.
Far from it.

Freudian slip or Fuher slip? How stupid can any candidate for any office use the word "Reich"? He is the world's most dangerous man.

So, ummmm, the far left doesn't think he meant RIGHT?

Trump knew what he was doing, it a dog whistle for his Nazi supporters, trying to get them to the polls.

It's not a "fraction overlap" it means that there are definitions of both words that are the same.

In case you never learned of the correct meaning of the term TDS.
You've been around long enough to know that.

What does TDS mean?

TDS is an acronym for Trump Derangement Syndrome, a term applied to people who express deep loathing and fear of President Donald Trump. It’s usually used by Trump supporters for liberals.

TDS is a mental illness that causes some mentally vulnerable people to think that this guy...

You're right. Trump is not presidential material.
But I still believe he can do better than Biden for the country.
But I won't vote for him.
I'd rather vote for Nikki Haley.
Trump is still the better of the two evils which we a doomed to support.

I hate Trump, but he never said the word.
I think a staffer shared a video in which the word reich briefly appeared in tiny letters near the bottom and Trump retweeted.
I wouldn't normally give Trump a pass, but I think this is nothing sinister at all.
But isn't it odd how often nazi-adjacent language, flags, signs, etc. keep popping up in the Trump sphere? How Trump "accidentally" ended up having dinner with an avowed white supremacist? How people close to him keep having to resign when their past association with white supremacy or nazi-sympathies are exposed? How Trump uses language practically taken directly from Hitler himself (e.g., "poisoning the blood." "Vermin.")? How he called white supremacists "fine people"?

So very odd...

Biden is old. And sane. And decent. And responsible.
Trump is old. And vulgar. And degenerate. And a threat to national security. And a threat to democracy.

The choice is easy.

Why haven't similar references appeared in Biden's campaign?
Uh ... could it be because Biden is not a crypto-fascist??

Was that a trick question?
:)

If only such sensibility and reasonability would spread more in those left of center. <sigh>

Since when do such realities matter to the left when there's a politically motivated push narrative which needs to be furthered and fauxrage needs to be ginned up?

So, is it finally okay to compare Trump directly to Hitler?
Sorry but I am not buying the "it was an accidental post by some outside person" crap.
Why not give him a pass here? There’s plenty of other evidence of Trump’s fascist tendencies.

Well, you said "the 4/88 campaign," so I'm assuming you were referencing one of the military operations on this list.

Not sure what any of them has to do with this thread, though.

Twenty one words: When. You. Can't. Come. Up. With. A. Specific. And. Objective. Reason. For. A. Nazi. Comparison. Just. Say. "Two. Words. Dog. Whistle."
The whole point of dog whistles is to provide deniability.

Right?

Or maybe using "reich" was just one more in a very long line of "coincidences." As I posted above, isn't it odd how often nazi-adjacent language, flags, signs, etc. keep popping up in the Trump sphere? How Trump "accidentally" ended up having dinner with an avowed white supremacist? How people close to him keep having to resign when their past association with white supremacy or nazi-sympathies are exposed? Whole lotta non-dog whistles...
