Did Trump's photo-op at Lafayette Square increase, diminish, or have no impact as to his chances of being re-elected as POTUS on Nov.3rd, and why?

It was a blunder, as evidenced by the pushback, so diminish. To me, Trump is just one perpetual blunder machine. I've never seen him do anything well. Except the first two covid briefings. Then he went off the cliff.

It's hard to say if anything can move the needle one way or the other.

Trump's approval is down 2.1 points from his normal 44%. But rest assured that if nothing too crazy happens in the next couple weeks, it'll be back up to 44% shortly.

No impact.

Unless he "murder's someone on 5th Ave.," or otherwise participates in or commands something constituting an inarguably impeachable offense? I will vote for him as the lesser of two evils.

The Democrats have gone off the deep end as far as I am concerned, starting way back in 2016 and never letting up to date.

Moreover, their "chosen candidate" is just not someone I could vote for in good conscience, even were I in disagreement with Trump's policy to date.

With five months to go until the election it's hard to know if this will even be remembered.

We already remember the longest government shut-down in our history like it never happened.

If he murdered someone on 5th ave, his approval would drop 1.5 points, which he would get back two weeks later.

It hurt him. It was very dictatorial. Something you'd expect to see from the leader of Venezuela or Egypt.

This may be true, but Trump gives his opponents ammunition almost on a daily basis. No need to remind anyone of this come November. There will be more. Lots more.

Yep.

People are simply embarrassed to say they'd vote for a bumbling wanna be dictator, but soon enough many of those people will "come home" to the party.

On the bright side, that 52-55 that want Trump gone and would vote for a head of lettuce over him are also not changing their minds.

I hope you’re right, but his evil is baked into the cake. Nobody doesn’t know what kind of person he is. If he had done this his first year he might have been impeached then, but there’s nothing that can shock anybody anymore.

Yep. News cycles certainly seem to come and go rather quickly in this era, no doubt. The thing I've noticed since the George Floyd tragedy, is that there seems to be more current and former GOP politicians coming forth to voice their displeasure as to how Trump has responded, and not responded, to the the tragedy. In particular, the civil rights violations of the peaceful protesters involved in that photo-op incident, as well as to Trump's handling of Floyd's death.

Exactly. Too much is made of the 44% that won’t budge, but how far do you think you’re going to get convincing anybody else that Trump is a swell guy?

But that's also the problem. By election day folks are likely to remember what happened in October rather than the last four years -- which has been inundated with stupid tweets, rallies, and general administrative chaos and incompetence.

I think it increases folks desire to vote him out of office. His base won't move much one way or the other no matter what trump does. It's up to the rest of the country to make sure we aren't inflicted with him for another four years.

They're finally showing an inkling of a spine. Maybe they figured out going all in on Trump was not good for the country -- or at least not good for personal reasons anyway.

I suspect that 'inkling' ( which I whole-heartedly agree with ) will continue to grow. IMO, it's all about the Independents, and from what I can discern, the Independents, for the most part, have had their fill of the Trump administration 'experiment.'

From your mouth to the electorates ears.

A campaign ad of him holding the Bible upside down, voiceover "The Bible that he took the oath of office on was just a Bible. Just like the Art of the Deal, just a book.

Whatever Trump thinks he's gonna pull in October will explode in his face. Joe Biden isn't Hillary Clinton.

It would depend what color and race the victim was for most of his supporters.

So we have Trump pandering in a photo-op, I wonder if anyone else in DC would do a pandering photo-op, or is only when it's on one side of the aisle that is is pandering?

If just 10% of disgusted former GOP voters go Biden, he's toast.

We also should consider how many young protesters will vote. I have no idea what young voters think, but if they remain enthusiastic and vote, Biden will need even less crossover Republicans
