Trump's job numbers were the worst since Herbert Hoover

He mismanaged the pandemic horribly. The pandemic was not caused by the 2016 election, however, and the economy would have been similar had he lost the land vote as well as the popular vote. The difference is that he influenced a lot of people to make bad decisions that resulted in their deaths while he received real treatment for COVID. That's one of the worst things that he ever did. I'll stop there, because what he did makes me very angry.

Calls to poison centers have increased in a number of states following Donald Trump’s suggestion last week that disinfectants be considered a possible treatment for the novel coronavirus. Yes, people actually started ingesting disinfectants like Lysol last week. While Trump claimed his comment was sarcastic on Friday, he once again took no responsibility for the consequences resulting from his stupid remarks. When asked about the increase in people using disinfectants improperly, Trump replied: “I can’t imagine why,” during a White House news conference Monday. He failed to once again acknowledge the severe consequences his words have for some Americans.

Popular disinfectant companies like The Clorox Company and Reckitt Benkiser, the parent company of both Lysol and Dettol, quickly released statements emphasizing that their products should not be consumed. Despite warnings from healthcare providers and other officials, people acted on Trump’s advice and ingested chemicals, including bleach, across the country. In at least five states, poison centers reported they had an increase in calls within 18 hours of Trump’s broadcasted stupidity.

While government officials acknowledged that it is hard to imagine people took the advice seriously, many admitted that during a time of crisis people’s first concern is safety. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan said his state received “hundreds of calls” from residents about the effectiveness of using disinfectants to treat the coronavirus on Sunday. “We had hundreds of calls in our hotline here in Maryland about people asking about injecting or ingesting these disinfectants, which is, you know, hard to imagine that people thought that that was serious. But what people actually were thinking about this, was this something you could do to protect yourself?” Hogan, a Republican, said in an interview on CBS. Hogan also emphasized the importance of leaders sharing accurate and honest information, especially during a crisis.

But it wasn’t just Maryland and Michigan residents who took Trump’s advice seriously. New York City’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said it saw an increase in calls within the 18-hour period after Trump’s briefing on Thursday. The poison control center recorded 30 cases by Friday, including nine “specifically about exposure to Lysol, 10 cases specifically about bleach and 11 cases about exposures to other household cleaners,” department spokesperson Pedro F. Frisneda told NPR.

Following Trump’s press briefing, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a statement that “household cleaners and disinfectants can cause health problems when not used properly. Follow the instructions on the product label to ensure safe and effective use.”

Indeed, Trump has always been about image over substance. And he's not even smart enough to try to hide his total disdain for the country, as long as the optics are right for him. Why not? His moronic minions are OK with that! That's why he has no problem actually confessing that he hopes the markets will crash while Biden is in office. Who gives a **** how many American lives are negatively impacted, or even crushed, just so long as he can say it was Biden's fault, he comes out looking good, and maybe gets reelected.

Forged documents and made statements to the FBI that they all knew were lies. FBI and DOJ lied to teh FISA courts and thy knew they were lying. Mueller couldn't find evidence but refused to say so just said he couldn't confirm it, The Phone call BS was exactly that BS lies by 3rd parties. Yeah, fine people those democrats. Wrong airfield, failed to hold Taliban to the requirements in the Trump withdrawal agreeement, and resulted in 13 US deaths and horrible abuse of the women in Afghanistan because he didn' t take care of business. It really is the only reason he lost. We'd be in Trump's 2nd term if not for COVID. With all of his baggage, Biden barely beat him. Sure, popular vote, yada yada, but right now the EC is what matters.

Most people care about at least things: how much stuff costs and how much they are making to pay for it. For the most part, that was all reasonable before COVID. Had the economy stayed like that and no COVID, he would have sailed to reelection.

Trump who, AFTER HE HAD ALREADY LOST THE ELECTION, deliberately reduced our forces in a Afghanistan - a country with a population of over 19 million people - leaving a total US military force with less soldiers than there are policemen in Brooklyn NY! - all the while knowing full well that Biden would be compelled to honor Trump's own withdrawal agreement with the Afghan government with that totally decimated force, lest the Afghanis turn on us for violating Trump's agreement.

IIRC, Biden beat Trump by the same margin that Trump beat Clinton. When Trump won he called it a landslide. But when Biden wins by the same margin you say "Biden barely beat him". That is when Biden also won the popular vote, which Trump lost to Clinton. Care to explain your reasoning further. It's hard to understand.

And your claims of Trump reducing the military, well I have to point out that Joe took over and had months to replace troops if he thought it necessary. He also made the fool mistake of deciding to abandon Bagram air base even though his military advisers told him this is where they should stay based. Instead his state department wanted to be in Kabul and Biden agreed. A fools mistake. In addition there were 2500 troops still there when Joe took office but by August that had dropped to 650, Joe did that. The reckless and stupid withdrawal was administered by Biden and he failed.

The democrats scared America with Covid lies. Turns out Trump was correct that the virus started in the Wuhan lab, Fauci and WHO lied. Masking doesn't work, another fauci lie. 6 foot and shutdowns didn't work either, except to ruin the economy, thanks Joe.

And yet a different country, where we live at the moment, followed all those silly rules. Masking, social distancing, shut downs etc, and 90%+ of adults even took the vaccine. They eliminated covid after it first got established there and spent much of the pre-vaccine covid period with a fully open economy, including large social events like sports events and band tours etc. The rest of the world barring a couple of other countries that did similar were hiding from death. Their covid death rate is around 25% of the US one, and their economy recovered just as fast as the US did in 2021/22. During the early/mid covid period where 10's of thousands were dying monthly in the US, they were still counting covid deaths on their 20 fingers and toes.
I don't think that those guidelines were wrong. It's just that the 2020 political leadership in the US was so divided and dysfunctional that none of the guidelines were followed well enough to be fully effective.
