President Donald Trump's approval rating with Medicaid recipients has dropped a staggering 16 points since January, a new poll from Morning Consult shows on Thursday. The shift occurred as Republicans advanced major cuts to Medicaid in the party's signature budget legislation, a bill the president dubbed "the big, beautiful bill." Medicaid covers more than 71 million low-income Americans and serves as a cornerstone of health coverage for vulnerable populations. In the poll, the president's approval rating with the group is 36 percent, a drop from 52 percent during the president's first week in office. Trump's disapproval mark is 55 percent, soaring from 34 percent during the same time frame. The survey noted that "The biggest political question facing the Republican Party ahead of the next couple of election cycles is whether it can consolidate gains made in recent years among lower-income Americans. In the wake of those Medicaid cuts, that sure looks like a very steep climb," Cameron Easley, Morning Consult's head of U.S. Political Analysis, wrote. The president's overall approval rating with U.S. adults in the poll is 44 percent compared to a 50 percent disapproval rating.

The polls will really bottom out when the Trump/GOP Medicaid healthcare cuts take full effect in December 2026. One month after the 2026 November midterm elections.

Trump and the Republicans must surely believe that we are all stupid and can't see through their 2026 charade.

I guess they don't approve being required to find a job. Well Duh!!!

The GOP make a big deal out of the changes to Medicaid saying it's just about the work requirement which most people can agree with. However, there are lots more cuts to Medicaid in that bill that will be come obvious as hospitals and nursing homes close especially in rural areas. There are also changes which increase co-pays for families of four making a whopping $33 K a year. Most of this pain will be felt in red states but could impact the margins in several swing states.

69% of Medicaid recipients have a full time job.

And a large percentage of the rest are disabled or children.
Or how about the 55-60 year old woman living in a rural county. There are lots of them and no doubt a plethora of jobs available to them /sarc

It's up to them....vote. Approval polls mean nothing if it doesn't turn into action at the ballot box. I promise you that if Republicans start losing safe rural districts or safe states they will change course. If all their Medicaid rural voters just vote R, well cry me a river.

Nosediving with Medicaid voters huh?

Can't imagine why

Lots of them are in red states....maybe even in those districts under redistricting.

Don’t confuse him with reality. His RW media pundits don’t talk about that
