That is not what the LAPD police chief said. He, in effect, said things were out of control.

The chief said later the 4000 NG and 700 Marines came into the city with no coordination with the city and no prior arrangements. The chief said the forces came with no food, fuel, water or arrangements of billeting. The Marines for instance were packed into the NG armory while the NG were piled up in the basements of federal buildings.

It's classic Trump spur of the moment impulses to include no activation and operations orders being issued, which is still fact as of this post. In other words the troops presence in LA is not yet officially authorized and anything the troops do is not covered as official acts or words.

There are many No Kings protests in Connecticut, too. I know of some in just southwestern Connecticut: in Bridgeport; Westport; and Stamford. More venues may have been added by now.

Probably not in places like San Antonio whose population is 66% Latino. During the George Floyd period we had a mini riot downtown. The next day some number of peaceful protestors showed up to help with the cleanup. That's San Antonio.

I contacted one of my friends about going only to find that she was going to another venue with another friend already. Now all three of us will go together. If there is any violence, we won't be part of it. The last time I was with my friend at a public gathering it was because her town, Fairfield, CT, was honoring her husband's service in The Coast Guard. I was there along with their other friends and his entire family, including grandchildren. There was a color guard and a special high school a capella chorus sang "The Star Spangled Banner".

We will be three rather elderly, upper middle class, white women retired from professional jobs who are there not so much to protest the stupid parade as to protest the cruel and ridiculous mass deportations that are unlawful and destructive to our country. And to protest all the other illegal things that Donald Trump has done and the ways he has harmed our country.
