Straight out of the authoritarian's playbook. Fascists have at least one thing in common: suppression of free press.

It's irrelevant whether or not PBS or NPR are left leaning. Their very existence to be so is protected by the Constitution.
 
Definitely an early step in the fascist playbook, defund and suppress anything that could possibly be critical.

Next, or concurrent, step is to use the courts and go after the others without public funding that Trump is also to some degree doing.
 
It's rare that I agree with Trump on something but he's right about PBS and NPR. These organizations used to be a reliable source for unbiased and responsible reporting. I was a listener of NPR and viewer of PBS back in the 90s, but these mouthpieces of the left have become highly biased and partisan over the past 25 years, and they spin everything hard left.

These propaganda organizations need to be defunded, and privatized. Taxpayers shouldn't be paying for that spin.

You're Canadian and you don't understand why it's VITAL that government-funded broadcasting MUST be non-partisan, and unbiased.

I'm not shaming you for not knowing this - I know very little about Canadian politics as well.

Is "This Old House" a partisan show? There are many shows on NPR/PBS that are not political in nature.

Playing devils advocate. Why should the major networks cover a Presidential speech, like the State of the Union? We know those speeches are partisan and biased in presentation.

The fact that what you posted is bullshit is irrelevant.

This is government taking adverse action against an entity based on the content of its speech. There's no "but if a MAGA thinks the entity deserves it" exception.

Then again, Trump could have a MAGA's family burnt at the stake and they'd say they're grieving but understand why it had to be done. And there I was thinking that the concept of voluntary slavery is a logical contradiction. . . .

The Constitution does not mandate taxpayer funding for either PBS or NPR.
