Trump urges Senate GOP to overrule parliamentarian

President Trump urged Senate Republicans on Sunday to overrule the chamber’s parliamentarian in order to pass key parts of his sweeping domestic policy bill.

In a Sunday post on Truth Social, the president backed a call from Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) and other GOP hard-liners to ignore rulings from Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough.

Dumpytits needs to be encouraged to go pogo through a mine field.

He needs to let the Senate do their job. The sad thing is he's unable to do that

He's right.

That Parliamentarian is a holdover from the previous Congress and is a Trump hater.

Trump is an ass. Regardless of who appointed her, we should judge her on the decision she made.

Some republicans liked her:
At her appointment to Parliamentarian in 2012, she was praised by outgoing Parliamentarian Alan Frumin as "down-to-earth," describing her personal knowledge of Capitol staffers; and by Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) as "smart, diligent ... and she's got integrity."<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_MacDonough#cite_note-Politico-Rogers-1"><span>[</span>1<span>]</span></a> Sen. John Thune (R-SD) said "she's very steeped in the traditions of the Senate and understands how it works here" and Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) said he had "no question about her ability to read the rules and make the right decisions."<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_MacDonough#cite_note-Haberkorn-9"><span>[</span>9<span>]</span></a>

Why is it doing that and how do I make it stop?

I called this a few days ago and was met with a certain amount of ridicule. Thune has so far stood up to Trump's pressure in this matter and I think he will continue that.

We shall see. Trump is willing to break everything. Thune so far understands that they won't be in power forever

Translation: "That Parliamentarian doesn't follow the whims of Trump & his agenda, therefore she is disloyal and should be fired"

Wrong.

Translation: That Parliamentarian is no different than all those corrupt district court judges.

the universal ad hom

people who do not love Trump only tell lies.
so, identifying a Trump-hater means that you may stop thinking
about anything they have to say

The question you should be asking yourself is why Thune hasn't kicked her to the curb.

"**** it the rules don't actually apply, 50 votes passes whatever I want" is just ending the filibuster without saying you're ending the filibuster.

You want to pull that trigger? Next time Democrats have ~54 senators, you're getting universal healthcare and taxpayer-funded college tuition. And once you have those, the GOP is doomed.

Of course he does.

She's been parlimentarian since 2012 and she's kind of hot.

Guess we'll be hearing she's "nasty" soon, eh?

The question you should be asking yourself is about why you lean so heavily on thought-terminating cliches.

even though they are comfy, they're not a good crutch

While it is true that she is a holdover from the previous congress, she is a holdover from the one before that as well... and the one before that... and the one before that... in fact, she has been there in that role since 2012 and has served under two democratic majorities and now two republican majorities. Why do you think she is suddenly unable to do that job that she has been doing for the last 13 years?

This isn't the first time she has been accused of not being able to do her job.

She has been the product of the Uniparty her entire life. She is one of those Senate swamp critters who remains submerged, out of public view, until it's her time to slowly emerge and make a ruling that changes the course of legislation...in favor of the Uniparty. She is a lifelong resident of DC. It is impossible for her not to be biased in a town that is 99% liberal.

Trump is indeed compelled to break everything.

Neither do we know what Sen. Thune thinks. Trump hates free and fair elections and he keeps getting what he wants while preventing what he hates from happening.

Trumph is commanding Thune to fire the obstructionist, disobedient and disloyal parliamentarian. Thune is out of step so far by not yielding on his Senate institutionalism that keeps the parliamentarian in place. If the rookie Republican leader Thune loses this that is Trumph's Big Beautiful Bill he's done as leader. Trump in his predictable fury will run him out. Don't put Trumpolini as shy about dissolving the Senate either given Trump gets what he wants because there's no one and nothing that can stop him. Because if Trumph loses this bill he would be furiously out of his mind and be compelled to take decisive action against the Senate.

Are you going to show how the the parliamentarian's ruling is incorrect?
Or are thought terminating ad homs enough for you?

So nothing in particular then... It would be easier to take you seriously if you could be more specific with what she got wrong on her latest opinion. Hell, an example of any ruling she got wrong would be helpful since she is such a long-standing failure. Why don't the republicans replace her if she is so awful at her job?
