Trump turbocharges inflation with tarriffs on US consumers

Its difficult to compute the level of stupidity involved in this. I did think that an adult had whispered in his ear.
How many weeks will he maintain this nonsense ? My forecast is 4.
Hopefully, no more than that. The last time he tariffed Canadian lumber, the price of the lumber in an average house jumped $10K plus. It didn't hurt Canadian lumbermen, who already owned US lumbermills, and hiked their prices enough to fully compensate them for any drop in orders in Canada.

Republicans are on the hot seat now. They control all three branches of government and were voted into power with promises to fix the economy.

Awaiting reruns from Season 1...

Yep, Trump will certainly solve the inflation problem, by making most believe the inflation under Biden wasn't really all that bad.

There has never been.

Nor shall there ever be.

A more unsuited individual to ever sit.

Behind the resolute desk.
Well never say never, but yes, Trump is completely unqualified for the job, and has not allegiance to the Republic or the People. He'll throw us all under the bus if it makes him a dollar.

the Orange is highly qualified for the job.

he is the mouthpiece for the Oligarchs who steer his boat and set the Agenda for the rest of us.

and has not allegiance to the Republic or the People. He'll throw us all under the bus if it makes him a dollar.

eventually this all might pan out and we will live in another Golden Era for america.

we might, or..........

I wonder what excuse they will find to excuse this policy failure ?
Trump can do no wrong. So someone else must be to blame.
Look at the MAGA's here. When they post is all "the tariffs will work" or at the very least "let's give it time to see if they work". In the meantime, every single economist, most of them conservative, absolutely hate the idea. The Wall Street Journal absolutely pummels Trump's stupidity on a daily basis.

But as mentioned above, "if Donnie says so, then it's a great idea". None of these MAGA's here will use their google button.

I was listening to a local radio news program on the way home this afternoon and they were interviewing a (D) congresswoman from Virginia. In the course of her conversation, she mentioned a recent townhall in which she was approached by a farmer who voted for Trump and said 'Don't let him pass that tariff' And would be willing to bet she was all conciliatory and diplomatic. I really wish a Democratic political figure -- any -- would actually explain to MAGA voters that, you know, it's their ****ing vote that has gotten us in this mess.

FFS, he's a ****ing farmer. Did he NOT remember what MAGA Jesus did his first term?! You know, **** it, some farmers are going to get exactly what they deserve. I'll pay more for Mexican and Canadian produce just to make these shit-asses go bankrupt.

Buy American, yes.

Buy anti-American? Oh, hell no!

Republican voters did this.
Specifically, Republican voters in Pennsylvania did this. Pennsylvania voters in addition to voting for Trump also ended up voting out their Dem Senator along with voting out two of their Dem members of Congress to make sure that Republicans keep the House.

Trump should be Impeached

I have to say that I like visiting Pennsylvania when I'm in the area. It sucks that it went for Trump.

Yeah, so, on behalf of freaking everone, imma need you to apologize immediately to the universe for tempting it like that, and knock on literally everything made out of wood within a square mile.

Sheesh. It's like people didn't learn their lesson in 2020. "Well at least it can't get any crazier, right?".

:p
Sadly, my desk is made of pressboard, not sure it counts.
Consider it knocked nevertheless.

Trump is apparently furious after Trudeau, whom Trump continually calls Governor as if Canada is already the 51st State, insulted Trump and slapped Tariff’s on American goods.

Like all Bullies, Trump can dish it out, but can’t take it. What an enormous *****.

Some doubt is healthy. To be wary is usually a wise course of action. However this doubt, and wariness needs to be a starting point not a finish line.

I do it. We all do. I am still doubtful of String theory. When I first heard about it I was dubious. It is a well known fact that Einstein’s theories work for gravity and planetary science. It is equally well known that it doesn’t work in the Micro Universe. The effects we call Quantum.

The math for A doesn’t work for B, and vice versa. So I felt that String Theory was the effort to bridge the gap between the two. I understand there has been some progress. But I’m still not sold, it still feels sort of desperate.

I don’t denounce those studying it. I could well be wrong. I’m not a physicist. I can’t do that math. I have no idea if it is right or not.

That is not what MAGA does however. If it sounds messed up to their limited experience it is. Anyone who says different is lying. They just “know” better than those who have the education and experience.
And that is partly where the hatred comes from. To them, it’s “common sense” because they have a gut reaction and a simplistic understanding of the issue, and because other people they know have the same gut reaction. Of course a man isn’t a woman. He was born with a penis. Of course masks don’t work. “Virus particles” are microscopic and smaller than the gaps in the mask material. They think only an idiot could believe otherwise, rather than acknowledging the possibility that others might have more information on the subject than they do.

That is their sin: Pride. It doesn’t matter if someone else went to college and obtained extensive expertise in a subject. Since they claim something about that subject that sounds wrong to me and to all of my high school graduate friends for exactly the same reason, then they are a laughable idiot. And even though we know next to nothing about the subject, we’re still obviously smarter than that lying brainwashed liberal with a PhD, since it’s “obvious” that we have more “common sense” than they do.

I hope so but I know a MAGA that will deny it to the end and blame Biden. So there are probably more MAGA's that will do the same.
Oh, they will try. But economic conditions are the deciding factor in elections. If the US economy is worse in 2028 than it is now, Republicans will lose.

I think that a big part of the problem is that the average maga doesnt really understand tariffs.
They arent really a complicated proposition but some dots need to be connected.
They see it as socking it to the foreign devils but cant connect that to the fact that they pay the tax themselves.
Trump doesnt understand it either.

I remember trump stating that tariffs would raise so much money they would pay for all the free IVF he was touting.

He has been silent on that issue ever since.

Untrue they use it all the time to find CT sites that claim the tarifs are good

Well, maybe next time democrat candidates will try to appeal to the working class voter rather than ignore and mock him. But that would take a level of self reflection that democrats lack.
