Why is it sick?

Trump is a brand and he likes the brand so who cares if he wants to push it.

It's not interfering with his job at all.

If you don't like it then don't buy one.

Trump isn’t pushing his brand, he’s pushing the normalization and acceptance of the erosion of democratic norms under its guise.

Sure, go ahead and roll your eyes, and for any other political candidate doing this I’d be rolling mine and laughing it off. But this is a man, who for nigh a decade, has continually assaulted and denigrated our democratic norms, our institutions, and its members. Who has sown a lie about our elections that he STILL pushes and is attempting to now institutionalize. Who fomented a riot at our Capitol and sat for three hours doing nothing, and against all pleas to intervene, as people and police officers were being stomped into the ground in his name and in the name of a lie he created and spread. Who then pardoned cop beaters by the hundreds when he returned to power.

I can’t say I appreciate or find all that amusing a man like him profiting off the expense of our country’s norms, that he specifically has gleefully violated and desecrated, again and again and again, and the consequences that those violations wrought.

It is 100% sick. The man is vile and a disgrace of an American, but this is perfectly expected from him….. as is the support or dismissive attitude to it by his followers.

I don't think we have checks and balances currently. I think we are in a period where a concentration of power is being given to the president. It's an executive-centric misinterpretation of our constitution.

Well that's actually a pertinent question because the courts can't force trump to obey their rulings and the GOP in Congress will do whatever he says. The Senate won't impeach him, and he's not supposed to ask for votes. That means there's not really any checks or balances.
