Trump signs executive orders on coronavirus economic relief

OMG! Now we know where the liberal idiots on his state learned that crap.

What was "crap" about his post explaining how legislation is passed? Let's see a government teacher of 34 years versus you? How can you possibly think you're right or know more? Newsflash! You don't know more and you're wrong.

Ummmmmmmmmm, yes, it gives people more money now when they need it even though they have to pay it back at a point where they don't need it. Trump would like to make those cuts permanent but I believe he does need Congress to do that. So, it's up to Democrats whether they will force Americans to pay the money back or not.

The EO gives unemployed workers $400 per week more than the Democratic plan of zero. Just because you will take Trump to court to stop him from helping Americans doesn't change that fact. The SC has already decided Trump can maneuver already appropriated funds to different things such as this.

You really think employers will give that tax money to the employees? Most will still take it then pay it before the end of the year so that their employees don't end up in a mountain of debt to the IRS, something you do not want to get into.

With that it gives people more money now when they need it. The EO's also pay $400 per week more than no bill and also stop evictions and extend the student loan payments. All of that is more than zero.

It does NOT stop evictions! It asks the states to consider stopping evictions...more smoke and mirrors. The $400 week includes $100 from states who do not have the money nor is there an actual system in place to execute it. No money, no system, nothing but more Trump BS...not mention it's not constitutional and well never survive a court test...

Let's also remember that Trump is so whaco, so off the wall by the time the election comes people won't remember his proposal because there will be a plethora of new sh** that he's spewed that will distract them...like BS mail-in ballot fraud or whatever looney tunes things he will say - he does it everyday.

He learned from that. They gave away the farm. He wasn't about to let Pelosi pay off her donors with our money again. Her wish list was longer than the combined Christmas list of a thousand Santa believers. She was using this crisis as a candy box.

He hasn't learned anything and neither have you. The White House isn’t interested in addressing the pandemic’s economic problems any more than they are interested in addressing the pandemic itself. They're simply pretending to be doing something constructive when all they're doing is nothing but campaigning and appealing to their base. Here is all the "candy" that is missing from the President's EO.

https://twitter.com/GreensteinCBPP/status/1292253399229104129

– Funding for testing, contract tracing and other critical publc health needs to help get the pandemic under control
– Food assistance for millions who aren’t getting enough to eat, including students missing out on school breakfast and lunch
– Extension of the federal eviction ban and funding to help renters struggling to pay the rent
– Funding for schools to provide distance learning and take needed precautions to reopen safely
– Funding to keep child care providers afloat so they can care for children safely when parents are able to work
– Fiscal relief for states, including additional Medicaid funding, to avoid more layoffs and cuts in health care and other critical state services
– Employment benefits at adequate levels that would last more than the next six weeks or so for people who have lost jobs.

That's the kind of "candy" this country needs if it ever wants gain control over the virus and start back on the road to economic recovery, because one isn't going to happen without the other. Or else it going to need one big-ass fire hose because this country is continuing to burn out of control.

You have absolutely no idea how business works. I can't debate with those who have no clue. It's like explaining calculus to someone who doesn't even know their times tables. Have a good day and come back when you have a better understanding and aren't just repeating left wing rhetoric.

What's the matter? Too much logic in there to be able to refute and so you just wave the white flag?

Trump isn't trying to help Americans. He's purposfully stalling the constitutionally authorized channels in an attempt to claw back some support after totally botching the pandemic response.

So what you've claimed above is... like your posts... pure trash.

Why would he sign EO's to help Americans if he didn't want to help Americans? Your bias is showing.

O brother, you really don't understand macro econ given this response. The excess revenues had to be parked somewhere. That somewhere was an investment by the SS fund into some instrument. It also had to be safe, no risk whatsoever. So they made that excess revenue buy special notes from the US government paying interest. Do you get it now? The only trick played was that this transfer of funds was made to look like regular tax revenue for political purposes alone but the notes are still government issued notes to the SS fund. Now turn off Rush.

They stole the money is what they did.

which is meaningless. If they don't have it now, they can't have it later when it's due.

actually as I've pointed out, trump can't actually do what is in his EO. The constitution precludes him, so nobody is having their payroll taxes deferred.

The EO is not capable of giving anyone any dollar amount. The constitution precludes it. Only congress can appropriate funds. So yes, it's zero. And the democrats passed the Heroes bill 3 months ago, and the senate has not even brought it up for debate. So no, this has nothing to do with democrats.

This is how we know that republican/conservative bull**** about the constitution and separation of powers is complete bull****. You are openly supporting a fascist move and a total violation of the constitution.

no they haven't.

You can do whatever the hell you want in an EO. Only a court can stop you. Are you saying Democrats will take Trump to court for helping the American people?

Is that what CNN is saying?

For example, the Senate had about $2B for a new FBI building. What's the Covid connection? McConnell even pretended he didn't know it was in the bill. How do you explain the FBI building or will you just ignore this like you do every time you're proven wrong...every day.

Someone save me the trouble of reading all 74 pages please.

Have the people who howled about Obama's EOs come in here to scream about Trump's? Have the Trump supporting small government, low spending "conservatives" come here to declare Trump's actions to be too costly and be too much like "soshializm"?

Since you know NOTHING about my background, and we all know all we need to know about his politics and how he wants passed that crap to American students, you don't have a position to discuss. I do know more, and I'm right.

Why would he sign EO's to help Americans if he didn't want to help Americans? Your bias is showing.

Because he knows that the folks hanging on every word from Rush Limbaugh and Sham Hammity don’t know any better.

And he has always been one to stage dramatic announcements for the mob, and forget what he said the minute he walks away from the podium.

Why did he sign EO’s?

For the same reason he has been signing them all along.

In order to promote his phony strong man act. Making a show of doing something, knowing that his fans will think he actually did it.

I really don’t know why right wingers keep falling for this scam.

Trump doesn’t do anything., He just struts around in stage trying to make it look like he has taken some sort of dramatic action. Nothing ever comes of it. On the occasions when his gut told him to actually do something, it went sideways.

So you;'re admitting that Biden will be President! You've had an awakening! President Biden!

"Admitting"?

You somehow think I have futurevision. Sleepy Joe Biden needs to wake up. He's heading for a buzzsaw that he is ill prepared to engage.

You really think employers will give that tax money to the employees? Most will still take it then pay it before the end of the year so that their employees don't end up in a mountain of debt to the IRS, something you do not want to get into.

LOL. This is where you are supposed to provide evidence of your ramblings. Doesn't your side like to dealt in truth and facts? Prove what you said.

Why would he sign EO's to help Americans if he didn't want to help Americans? Your bias is showing.

Most do nothing to help and why he did it is an attempt to win some voters over to his side in November, a big nothing burger, Congress needs to get it done the right way, and we can ignore trumps nonsense.

What's the matter? Too much logic in there to be able to refute and so you just wave the white flag?

I can't refute total nonsense. It would be like trying to refute you wearing a tin foil hat to ward off earthquakes.

Oh really? Can I borrow yours then? :lamo

I have talked to two different business owners and both have told their employees that If this is implemented to not expect the money, otherwise they would end up owing a bunch on money to the IRS at the end of the year, both stated that their employees agreed. This idea is ludicrous at best, and that is that, not gonna happen, count on that.

Naw. Did you expect them to?

They will take him to court to stop him from violating the separation of power.

The former, Obviously not!

The latter.

Well, they went silent on Jan 20, 2017, and we haven’t heard a peep out of them until about two weeks ago.

They rubber stamped Trump’s $2 trillion tax cut.

They didn’t say much on March, when something had to be done.

And now, they’ve once again, belatedly discover the appearance of fiscal responsibility.

Which is a sure sign that they see their blood on the water in November.

This is the EXACT same way the GOP reacted to the financial crash of 2008 (after doing so much to bring that catastrophe on).

Now they’re running the same play again.

From now on, there will be endless noise about deficits from Republicans.

As always, when they are in the driver’s seat, the borrow and spend goes at breakneck speed, and no one says a word.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump signed executive orders Saturday for coronavirus economic relief, upending negotiations with Congress after lawmakers failed to reach a deal on Friday.

The executive orders establish a payroll tax holiday through the end of the year for Americans earning less than $100,000 a year.

They also defer student loan payments through the end of the year; continue eviction moratoriums; and extend enhanced unemployment benefits that expired last week, but at a reduced level of $400 instead of the prior $600.

"If I'm victorious on November 3rd, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax," Trump said. "Joe Biden and the Democrats may not want that, they don't want that."

Looks like Trump got tired of Congress not getting anything done....he bypassed them

What's new. Obama did exactly that his last six years. He governed via EO's. Trump is doing the same following the example Obama set. Until them EO's were basically internal memo's to how the president wanted his departments to operate. Rarely used to bypass congress until Obama.

It's sort of like the nuclear option first used by then Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid. Until then the majority and minority leaders usually were able to works things out between them. But all this shows is how the Polarization and ultra, mega partisanship has set in over the last 12 years or so. Everything in Washington D.C. has become for the good of the party and not America as a whole. Party politics over everything else.
