Trump Shifts Deportation Focus, Pausing Raids on Farms, Hotels and Eateries

It isn't a "culture war whim" to cancel wasteful spending at a time of $36 trillion debt. The silly programs of USAID are well known now, and they are indefensible. But less well-known are the research programs cut, and the reasons for them. For example, a university research program for the treatment of a specific brain cancer was cut. But, as I pointed out in another thread here, there are at least half a dozen other university and cancer center programs on-going into the same cancer, and at least as many are already in clinical trials. Cutting one of many such programs isn't a "culture war whim."

If their "opinions" become militant actions (e.g., Mohamed Khalil) they may well have their visas, granted for the purpose of academic study, withdrawn. And why shouldn't they? Would you tolerate an openly hostile guest in your home?
Yet having a $45 million parade isn’t wasteful spending?

Focusing ICE attention on undocumented criminal immigrants seems like a good thing. While addressing those people who have been in this country for years with clean police records is (and should be) a very low priority.

But the most important thing in partisan politics remains the same. "The other team sucks!!"

..

Trump reversing his polices is generally good, yes.

Your pathetic attempt at defending the orange moron
Your sick use of that terminology tells me that (a) you are incapable of rational discussion and (b) you're just another loser Democrat so typical of those bringing the Democrat Party into the political cellar.
Tell me which other civilised nation forbids criticism of its leader?
This nation forbids anti-American activities by foreign visitors, and why not? We have enough of that kind of activity by our own leftists with out importing more.
It's no wonder so many countries have issued travel advisories against visiting America.
Your own source tells us why: "While most of the government warnings don’t specify why they were added, the timing points to the Trump administration's executive orders regarding immigration and the tightening of border policies."
After four years of no controls at all, of allowing criminals and terrorists to move freely across our border and into our cities, the existing immigration laws are being enforced. If people in other countries don't like that, and especially if you "progressives" don't like it, it's just too damn bad.

That's about an 8% decrease. How about you swallow an 8% pay cut and tell us BFD.
No one is taking an 8% pay cut. And if it meant doing that to get this country back into compliance with it's own laws, I'll take it.

Yet having a $45 million parade isn’t wasteful spending?
I notice that you picked the highest estimate.
One USAID contract that was cut was for the $25 million that parade is estimated to have cost. And I think that it was worth that amount to show our gratitude to the Army that has kept us free for 250 years. It was worth it to tell people like you that this country is unabashedly proud of our history and our place in the world. It was worth it to inspire young people to a career in the military. And, from my POV, it was worth it just to piss off people like you.

So you think a company can absorb at 8% loss of revenue and not have bad things - like staff reductions or pay cuts - happen? Kind of laughable.

And tourists aren't breaking laws

After reading this thread, it seems the extreme anti-Trumps are disappointed ICE is being directed to go in a new direction, much easier on farm workers, hotel and restaurant workers.

It makes fiscal sense that they would go easier if businesses are suffering. Trump has already acknowledged that these policies were affecting farmers and hospitality businesses by removing "very good, long-time workers" who are difficult to replace. It's economically understandable why Trump has changed course. It's a matter of preventing economic disruptions. Makes more sense to go after criminal activities like human trafficking and drug smuggling.
Of course they are disappointed that Trump has acknowledged that those policies were negatively affecting those American businesses.
It does make fiscal sense. It is economically understandable to change course. Economic disruptions currently makes no sense.

Yes, that makes more sense to go after criminal activities like human trafficking and drug smuggling.

I like the TACO! Trump Always Challenges OPPORTUNISTS! 😉

Yes, he does get credit. He gets credit for reversing course.
Just admit it, the anti-Trumps will never give this president credit.
That's okay. Stay angry.
Of course he should get credit for reversing course!

They use TACO against him. Trump Always Chickens Out. I’m surprised they used a Capital T! Instead of ~ tACO 🌮

They are not very good at political branding. It usually helps Trump over & over again.

It wasn’t about showing gratitude to the Army. We don’t have money to waste per Trump so no we don’t have the money

You would do well to familiarize yourself with the meaning of "decreased revenue."

What laws were being violated by international tourists?
You would do well to understand the economy of the country. If "decreased revenue" is the price of getting tourists to understand and abide by our laws, it's a worthwhile investment.
As to your second question, have you been in a cave for four years? Did the Russian that threw Molotov cocktails at citizens in Colorado escape your notice? Among the many things you don't seem to know is that overstaying a visa is a crime, and visa overstays (before biden opened the border) were half of the illegal aliens in the country.

So you think a company can absorb at 8%
Here's a flash for you. The US isn't a company.
And tourists aren't breaking laws
Tourists who stay too long are, and that's about 750,000 every year. As for any other laws, you don't know, do you? Like attempted murder in Colorado?

It wasn’t about showing gratitude to the Army. We don’t have money to waste per Trump so no we don’t have the money
It was worth it for several reasons, and none of those reasons was to make people like you happy about it.

So what? They attack us, we bomb them. And it's about time.

I don't give a damn what you find. If people are stupid enough to put a stick in the eye of the biggest kid on the block, they deserve what they get.

Glad you admit you were flat out lying about Trump not bombing people. This too is progress.

😃

He deported fewer people than Obama or Biden.

Trump's been on the job for less than 5 months and already he has the US military patroling America's streets.

Neither Obama or Biden ever did so, nor did they ever deport anyone to a Supermax prison in El Salvador.

Progress will be when you guys grow up.

Being caught lying about Trump's bombing campaigns just to make him out to be some peaceful president and then doubling down is not a strong sign of maturity.

😃

Dems use of the word, "lying" so often is a sure sign of immaturity.
