Teaching the Kremlin of the futility of their Ukraine military adventurism isn't as difficult as it may seem. It just requires a CiC who doesn't have his head up his ass, and isn't Putin's puppet.

Russia hasn't exactly been idle. We are just starting to ramp up production. Plus Russia like Ukraine now has lots of battlefield experience we have never had in a theater like the one being fought in.

Not our style to pursue maximum bang for our dollar either when it comes to weapons. We do the opposite.

You might ask if Carter, Obama, Bush or anyone else has (or had) at least shifted their attitudes on their own policies, representing an evolution in thinking that is serious. With Trump that is a meaningless question - we've known that even before Trump started in his first term.

Recall that in March, Trump said he was “pissed off” with Putin for refusing to agree to a 30-day ceasefire?

Recall that in April Trump demanded “Vladimir STOP,” after a Russian missile strike on Kyiv left a dozen people dead?

Recall that two weeks ago European leaders and Trump supported that either the ceasefire start promptly or that massive sanctions would be imposed?

Recall that six days after all that threat, Putin made a two-hour phone call to Trump that established a) There was no progress to a ceasefire b) EU therefore went ahead and imposed the threatened sanctions and c) Trump whiffed and suspended those threatened sanctions cause as he always says when confronted with his weakness: "Putin and I have a good relationship. I believe he wants Peace".

Now he's complaining that "Putin has changed", that “Maybe he doesn’t really want to stop the war and is just tapping me along,”

And as become almost comical, Trump is back to threatening more Sanctions.

"FACE VALUE" has a whole new meaning when you apply it to Trump.

He wasn't, which foreordained the poor followed by currently disastrous leadership we have experienced regarding Ukraine since 2020.

As I recall prior to Putin's invasion, Biden attempted to convince him that the US would have a very strong response to such an event. Biden, in one instance, made a tangential comment to that warning, assuring Putin that the US was not speaking of dire response for a minor incursion, but for an invasion.

The way he said it, and the timing of when he said it, came off as reassurance to Putin he could take some modest military action and that the US would not consider that the same as a full-scale invasion - sending the wrong message days before the war.

It was a flub, but nothing like Trump's repeatedly outrageous pratfalls.
