Trump says he's considering rebate checks for Americans based on tariff revenue

😂

Yes you have lol

I’m not guessing. I’m pointing out you have and will continue buying those items under tariff. It’s hilarious you think you can lie about that and nobody will laugh at you.
How? If I already own my phone and my car and the cable for my internet has already been laid, why would new tariffs impact me on those items?

So the money he takes from us, we’ll get a portion back, but probably not. Yay for tax hikes.
Well, you dont get to a $37 trillion debt if people are paying too much in taxes.

Let’s not pretend that money is going to pay off the debt. We both know that’s not happening much like how Republicans were against more debt and then swiftly added 4 trillion more at the first opportunity.

How what?

It’s like, you don’t even know what products are being tariffed. To claim you nor the other poster won’t be buying tariffed products is hilariously moronic.

Correct. You get to it when republicans slash revenues while increasing spending at the same time.

Why would you support this?

Would it not be better to use the increased revenue from tariffs to reduce/balance the current budget that is running a deficit? Other options is to use the tariff revenue to pay down the National debt.

Once we have a balanced budget and reducing the debt part of the tariff money could be given to the Amercian people.

Trump is just playing to his base on this "tariff check" idea.

In the unlikely event such checks are sent out that extra money will be added to the charitable donations I make annually

The debt will never be paid off but that wasnt my point. The point was that the federal government has paid out $37 trillion more than it has taken in. That can only happen if Americans are undertaxed, not overtaxed.

Obama added more to the debt than anyone. Last I checked he wasnt a republican.

When the left cries about tariffs it often goes with how they are being excessively taxed.

Today President Trump floated rebate checks based on tariff revenue.

Trump spreading the wealth among those who need it the most.

So Trump is gonna take a large chunk of our money and give us pennies. Nice.

Oh yeah, **** the deficit, a real conservative is trump

This says trump in four years added more than Obama in eight

There are different ways to measure debt but trump did all that in only four years is pathetic

Youre just not following along with what is being said. I own a '17 Jeep. Its paid for. Its not a tariffed product. Neither is the iPhone that I own. Tariffs can go to 1000% and my iPhone wont be impacted. It seems that the arrogance and anger of the left often cloud their ability to grasp b asic things.

So Obama is #2 then and Biden #3. Last I check both of them were democrats. So much for the other posters dopey accusation.

The party of fiscal responsibility lol

Check again, it was not close, Trump owns the title.
No, Obama does. $8.34 trillion for Obama. $8.16 trillion for Trump. Biden will be over $7 trillion. The point is that it isnt just republicans that add to the debt like the poster dishonestly claimed.

Obama, 8 years, agent orange 4.

Fair enough. I’m just of the mind that if I’m paying more I should get either a reduced deficit, reduced debt or some new benefit. None of that is happening so it feels like a new tax for absolutely no reason.

Well, the majority of Trumps deficits were related to Covid and it was congressional democrats who were in control of spending. But I wasnt expecting an honest reply.

This would be a stronger point if he vetoed it but he didn’t. He’s the president so he owns it.

I agree. Both parties were all in on covid spending. The debt and deficit pretty much have a mind of their own at this point and I dont know that there is much we can do if we wanted to.

If the federal government collects $300 billion in tariffs all that would do is drop the deficit from $1.8 trillion to $1.5 trillion. Not sure how that helps at this point.
