President Trump said Wednesday he is "looking forward" to testifying before special counsel Robert S. Mueller III and that he would speak under oath.

"I would love to do it, and I would like to do it as soon as possible," Trump said at the White House. "I would do it under oath, absolutely."

The president suggested he was being investigated for obstruction of justice as part of the Russia investigation because he was "fighting back" and again reiterated there was "no collusion" between his campaign and Moscow.

"Oh well, did he fight back?" Trump said, "You fight back, oh, it's obstruction."

Mueller's team has told Trump's lawyers they want to question the president about the firing of national security adviser Mike Flynn and FBI Director James B. Comey — they have also asked witnesses in recent weeks about Trump's attempts to oust Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
I would advise Trump to not speak off the cuff.
That and because he can run his mouth forever, may lead to a second interview

I would advise Trump to not speak off the cuff.

That would not work at all. Asking him to not speak at all, ever again could work.

Definitely. Off the cuff is when he says things he should regret.

His lawyers are bad, but they're not that bad.

I think.

Which is why we should all hope he lets it rip and gets cocky and shoots his mouth off in an arrogant display of his own bravado.

I think.

We all should have learned by now that nobody can control this narcissist who believes he is the closest thing to god on earth.

Let us hope and pray that Mueller and his staff play Trump like a cheap violin and make him sing loudly and long.

I expect his attorneys to do their job to avoid entrapment but expect Trump will answer honestly.

But if I were Trump after Mueller was done asking his questions, Trump should ask a few of his own.
1. Mr. Mueller when you were Director of the FBI, when were you aware of the undercover agent embedded in with the Russians collecting information on how Russia was gathering access to Uranium around the world?
2. Mr. Mueller when did you become advised that the Russians were engaged in embezzlement, bribes, to obtain this access?
3. Mr. Mueller why didn't you alert Congress and others before allowing the Uranium One deal to proceed with this knowledge?

I think the key phrase here, is:

"President Trump said ...

My response of course, is:

"We shall see"

He best do that

Not happening- clearly unfamiliar with the process

1. Mr. Mueller when you were Director of the FBI, when were you aware of the undercover agent embedded in with the Russians collecting information on how Russia was gathering access to Uranium around the world?
Again not happening

2. Mr. Mueller when did you become advised that the Russians were engaged in embezzlement, bribes, to obtain this access?
Again not happening.
3. Mr. Mueller why didn't you alert Congress and others before allowing the Uranium One deal to proceed with this knowledge?
Again, unfamiliar with how this works.

Entrapment?

Are you saying Mueller is attempting to induce Trump to commit a crime?

Entrapment?

Are you saying Mueller is attempting to induce Trump to commit a crime?

I'm saying that is an attorney's responsibility to ensure his client isn't entrapped.

Entrapment?

Yeah, I saw that- it is all a plot by the Secret State.

How many times did trump say he would release his tax returns once some unrelated condition was met?

I'm saying that is an attorney's responsibility to ensure his client isn't entrapped.
Well, I can't imagine your bringing it up, unless you believe it may happen.

Look, I understand your point of sorts, but the only way Trump can perjure himself is to lie. Of course if he does, then let him take the consequences, the same that would occur to you & I if we lie in a criminal investigation.

He committed obstruction before Mueller was even hired, so that wouldn't be entrapment if obstruction is what he is charged with. However, I don't believe will be indicted for it. Richard Nixon was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator to avoid a constitutional crisis..

Oh, no! The Russia investigation is getting closer to the POTUS! Must bring up something, anything, a distraction. I know! Uranium one! That's a good one.

It is pretty clear that Mueller will be asking questions to which he thinks he knows the answers. So yes he will be looking to have Trump answer questions in such a way as Mueller can claim he lied. As an example, unless Trump told someone he fired Comey because he would not stop the investigation of Flynn Mueller can only have others assumptions. If he takes those assumptions to the be truth or at least possible he can then charge Trump with perjury and let the jury decide. In this case the jury would be congress with a potential impeachment.

My sense is that this is where we are heading. If there was a conspiracy to muck up this administration then this would be the perfect next step.

The ultimate responsibility remains with Trump.

He can tell the truth, or he can lie.

His lawyers are bad, but they're not that bad.

I think.
You're right, they're even worse than you could possibly imagine.

His lawyers have zero discipline themselves, as well an amateurish understanding of the legalities of the situation they find themselves in. These buffoons have never been anywhere near a case like this, and are a nightmare team up against Mueller's dream team.

This is Jay Sekulow, the main guy in Trumps ear. Just look at how he pimps idiotic wing-nut conspiracies about the FBI on his podcast, when he should have his nose in the books.

Don't forget this circus.

Yeah, this is the presidents legal counsel. :doh

I will give 2-1 odds he never testifies
