Trump says he’s going to reopen Alcatraz prison. Doing so would be difficult and costly (4 Viewers)

What King Trump wants, King Trump gets.

That Alcatraz is crumbling is a good thing. Well, for a prison anyways. Besides it shouldn't cost too much the keep the locks tight and the bars strong. Plus, the use of balls and chains should keep the guests resistant to trying to swim away.

They could use the 'guests' as the labor for whatever work was required to revamp its ability to keep them in where they belong. I'm sure the 10 cents an hour they'll be paid will be greatly appreciated.

That it would cost too much to feed them because Alcatraz is an island seems ludicrous on its face. Even more ludicrous when analyzed. It's just a few minutes' boat ride from Fisherman's Wharf, SF, to Alcatraz - just one mile. San Quentin is further than that, and nobody's whining about the cost to send food there.

Of course, there's the one unavoidable reason to oppose re-opening Alcatraz. ORANGE MAN BAD!!!!!
sarcasm I hope, because otherwise your post is stupid.

I predict Trump will be out of power way before this is renovated and fit for habitation and whoever is in charge next will cancel this pointless idea.

So, you think inhumane living conditions for prisons is a good strategy?
Yeah, great.

Sir Spends-A-Lot at it again. What a ****ing moron. This was closed decades ago because even then it was crumbling, and supplying the prison was hella expensive since everything had to come over water. Well no one has ever said communists were smart.
I find myself in the rare position of agreeing with Nancy Pelosi. This isn't a serious proposal.

"...to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders.”

Trump, Musk and Rubio should be the first to go.

Likely what prompted the foreign movie tariff nonsense too.
Trump stated that he did some “strong research” on the movie situation, in the last week.

”…………adding: “I’ve done some very strong research over the past week, and we’re making very few movies now. Hollywood is being destroyed. ……..’

Ocean salt spray gets into everything and degrades everything.

Every day, the stupidity of the Trump administration hits new nadirs.

Does anyone know why they closed Alcatraz? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I saw this last night.

It occurred to me that he has a sickening fondness for the way things were in the 70's.

If any president had a right to a parade it was Eisenhower.

Actually...

Since he's a convicted rapist......

Here’s his explanation, exactly what one would have imagined it to be. As I said in the other thread, people actually worship this man.

We'll see. So far he's made a post on Truth Social.
The Bureau of Prisons have responded

“I have ordered an immediate assessment to determine our needs and the next steps," Marshall said. "USP Alcatraz has a rich history. We look forward to restoring this powerful symbol of law, order, and justice."

This would reinforce post # 33.

Have they solved the fresh water issue?
