If something is done that does not reduce illegal entry to less than 100 per year, then the issue has not been resolved.

If not the Republicans, then the Democrats.

Stay as non immigrants, required to check in with immigration periodically, with a fee each year to extend their stay I could accept.

Clue, it was all but done under Biden then Trump stepped in to stop it. He did not want to stop the problem he wanted to keep the problem as a campaign issue. Likely won him the election because like you, so few are aware of he did.

Trump still plan to have immigration as a campaign issue with raids continiung in Democratic cities. With American citizens also being arrested and harassed. While Trump and his cronies can continue to hire undocumented immigrant workers.
