Trump Removes MLK Bust from Oval Office

Of course he does.

I would call this the daily dose of stupid but it's the second dumb Trump thing today and we still have another 6 hours to go.

The first being his meeting with Carney?

Yes.

Especially since Trump is a long established troll president.

It's like an old "what'll he do next"? Sitcom.

As a spectator, it's funny to me.

He's the inverse of Rodney Dangerfield. "I give no respect."

Really not rare for this to happen. If you know the history of the MLK bust. That bronze bust of Dr. King has resided in various areas of the White House, from the library on the lower floor to the Oval Office in the West Wing. The King bust has never been positioned on the State Floor of the White House because Martin Luther King Jr. was a civilian. It currently is in the President's private dining room.
A similar situation occurred under both Obama and Biden. The Churchill bust was removed from the Oval Office by President Joe Biden in January 2021. This was part of a redecoration of the Oval Office upon his inauguration. The bust had been returned to the Oval Office by President Donald Trump in 2017, after being previously removed by President Barack Obama in 2009.
A cast of a bust of Winston Churchill, sculpted by Sir Jacob Epstein, was donated to the White House in 1965 by a group of American wartime friends of Churchill, including W. Averell Harriman. This particular bust was then displayed in the White House residence, outside the Treaty Room, for many years. While President Obama did move this bust to make room for a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. in the Oval Office, it was not removed from the White House entirely. Another bust of Churchill, lent by Prime Minister Tony Blair to President George W. Bush, was displayed in the Oval Office during Bush's presidency. This second bust was returned to the British government at the end of Bush's term.
It is up to the current President to select the artwork in the Oval.

I can't imagine Trump being very happy looking at the face of a black man not carrying a tray of food while he's eating. Especially one who isn't famous and wealthy.

He is worried he will not be remembered as MLK is. Or WILL be remembered but not in flattering ways.
Seems MLK and DJT had some things in common. Infidelity, sexual assault and very likely a child out of wedlock. He also was surrounded in his personal circle with many friends and associates with communist ties.
So Donnie and Martin seem to run in the same circles.

While MLK was no saint he was not the complete asshole, whiny little shitbag of a child, insecure dictator wannabee, fat ugly pig that Trump is.

BTW, Trump is also a jackass. But.............................. whatabout...............,. Joe Biden?

The next President can restore those busts of MLK.

Odd, not one Rightie has SO FAR commented on this story. I suspect when they get around to it they will make all kinds of excuses and then claim we suffer TDS for criticizing Trump for this action.
NOT odd at all....more like typical.

/checks the calendar.

Well that timing is rather poor optics.. or....?

According to a newspaper that, AFAYK, has no reason to lie. Why don't you go there and find out for all of us?
No, it's according to the Trump administration, which often lies.

I believe Trump didn't want in the Oval because ... reasons and it's stored away somewhere out of sight.
Prove me wrong.

🤣

No, not "according to the newspaper" - according to the Trump White House.

"Media Illiteracy" is a requirement to be a Trump supporter.

Yes fans the hits just keep coming.

The statue is still there... just in a different room. 1st Ladies used to rearrange the whole White House.

Relax.

Where is it? Do you have the inside scoop? A picture, perhaps?

But he's not a racist. What a ****ing racist. I can only hope all the people who voted for trump to cause the libs pain, suffer twice the amount for voting for trump. They knew what they were voting for and they are getting it. War on anyone who isn't a trump ass kisser.

You guys had years to come up with a candidate that could take on Trump but you insisted on Biden. Then when it finally dawned on ever your side that Biden was senile, you only tossed up the joke that Harris is. Nobody, not even many Dems, liked her. You could have had another Primary and come up with a good candidate... but you didn't. You are as at fault as those that voted for him.

The first being his meeting with Carney?
His "we have an agreement with the EU" and refusing to sign the group communique.

It is in the first paragraph of the article. It is in a private dining room right next to the Oval Office.

Splattered with catsup.

It wasn't removed from the White House... you need to actually read the article. LOL

And you believe a Trump administration spokesman? huh.

When asked for proof of the position of the art, the official said they did not take pictures inside the private residential areas of the White House or West Wing.
