He is addicted to attention, but it is the worst thing for him. Giving Trump attention is like giving a drunk booze. All it does is make him want more. He will do anything to get more attention. No amount of asshole behavior is too much. Being an asshole is his standard go-to method of getting attention.

It is irrational for him to worry about being impeached. If that happened it would actually be good for him. He got more support each time it happened. Democrats would be in a difficult position if they take the House next year. They would be pressured to impeach him, but doing so would help him. If they do they help him. If they don't, they would face criticism for defacto approving of his misdeeds.

That won't happen even if Democrats win. Our government is bought. It's a dog and pony show. The Legislative Branch serves the rich no matter who wins. That is why people stopped voting.

This doesn't really pass my sniff test; I don't think Trump is particularly concerned about yet another consequence-free impeachment.

I think he just doesn't want to lose power. He currently has a Congress with zero interests in being a check on the Executive and instead will do as ordered, and I think he's terrified of losing that and instead having to deal with a Congress that isn't under his thumb.
