Trump probe: Court halts Mar-a-Lago special master review

I steer clear of those, but they're private companies, not government entities.

Against falsehoods and incitements to violence? Seems to me that's the correct direction.

BTW, do you remember how Russia took out thousands of ads on facebook in 2016? (Russian interference in the 2016 election was “sweeping and systemic.”) Those were in one direction -- FOR Trump and AGAINST Hillary. How come no Trump supporters like to recall that?

is the FBI Govt entity ?

If you care you can read the filings.

We do know because the court filings are a matter of public record. I've read most of them. I don't need the "media" to tell me what's in them. Every filing by Trump and the USG and the decisions by the district court and CA11 all take as a given that Trump had in his possession scores of documents marked classified. Trump has never disputed that FACT.

I searched that link and I don't see the word "classified" anywhere .... do you ?

Jeez, Cat, such shallow thinking! Much of what Trump has done he has provided evidence for us ON VIDEO. We know that after the January 6th insurrection, Trump told the people who attacked the police and broke into the Capitol "We love you. You're special." We know that because he put that out over the air. How about "Russia, if you're listening, I hope you can find [Hillary's missing emails]." Was it just a coincidence that that same day, Russian hackers made their first effort to break into the servers used by Mrs. Clinton’s personal office.

So if you disbelieve anything that any person or media outlet reports, you must live in a state of constantly knowing nothing about anything. I imagine there's a syndrome named for that.

now show me the quotes where Trump said protest peacefully and show me the quotes where he was checking Russia down .......... or do you ignore those ?

sigh
No speculation. It is a known fact. Have you even researched the topic or are you just posting for a reaction?
Below is a link to one article. If you search you will find more.

May 6: The National Archives and Records Administration contacts Trump’s team to say some high-profile presidential documents appear to be missing.
September: Archive officials engage with former deputy White House counsel Pat Philbin, who indicates he has communicated with former Trump chief of staff Mark Meadows about the documents, said a person familiar with the conversations, who like some others have spoken on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.
December: A Trump lawyer informs the archives that aides have identified some of the missing documents,
Jan. 18, 2022: According to an affidavit filed later in support of the Aug. 8, 2022, search of Mar-a-Lago, 15 boxes of records arrive at the archives.
Feb. 9: On opening the boxes, archives officials find documents clearly marked classified, intermingled with printouts of news articles, mementos and items.
..............................
.......................
Aug. 5: Magistrate Judge Bruce E. Reinhart approves the FBI’s request for a search warrant.
Aug. 8: FBI agents in casual clothes and without their guns spend nearly nine hours at Mar-a-Lago searching the club’s storage room, Trump’s residential suite and offices. According to a property receipt they leave behind, they collected more than two dozen boxes of documents, including 11 sets of documents with classification markings.

what is Trump's side of the story now ? you've listed the Govt's side ....

@Athanasius68 so i see you dodged this story since you are wrong as usual...

Lololololololololololololololol

You tell me. What is Trump's side of the story. Does he provide information to the law(s) that allowed him to do what he did?

Either defend your position with links to back up you statements.

I am not going to play 20 questions with you.

It's not espionage if the documents were declassified and when he was president he had unilateral authority to declassify anything he wanted.
The documents are not de-classified if there is no record of it. Do you think we should just take the word of a private citizen trying to save his ass?

Lololololololololololololololol

What is to dodge on my end?

Trump had documents in his possession he was not entitled to have,
He refused to respond to requests to return them, and then when he finally returned them, lied and said he had returned them all.

I guess time will tell won't it ... on which side is right here, Trump or the parts of the Govt that searched MAL

many people thought Trump was guilty of collusion with Russia - he wasn't
many people thought Trump did something wrong on the Ukraine deal, he didn't

many people believed he had classified documents - time will tell on that too

A document does not have to be a "classified" document to violate the PRA.

Of course, rule of law means nothing to some.

that's true on PRA but nobody is naïve enough to believe Presidents don't keep a few things when they leave office

Bill & Hillary did

time will tell on this but if nothing comes of it, the anti-Trump people will always believe in Russia, Ukraine, Jan6th and stealing classified information and it doesn't matter the truth of any of them .... the accusations were what mattered :(

ahh the old whataboutism.
The discussion is about Trump and not past Presidents. Try to stay on topic.

Your TDS is strong (Trump Defense Syndrome). :giggle:

its not a whataboutism ......... Clinton took things, Trump took things

What did ya'll call Clinton? Thieves? or just a mistake and lets not worry about it? maybe treat Trump like Bill was treated ?

We have to understand Trump's pathology. He wants what he wants. Nothing else matters. He cannot care about what is right, what is legal, what is national security, what is just. He has some special souvenirs from his days in the WH and he wants to keep them. Hide them, lie about them, claim them. Do whatever can be done to keep them.

Trump is incapable of considering the needs of anyone else, and that includes the nation and his own supporters. Back in 2020, when Trump was about to headline a political rally with thousands in attendance, a reporter asked him if he was concerned spreading covid. "No," was Trump's reply. "I'll be far from the crowd." The danger to his own people never even occurred to him.

It is the same thing with the MAL documents. They are a shiny new thing that the man child wants. He is using every possible manner to get to keep them.

I suspect it ranges from a simple desire to go against policy - "I don't have to do what you tell...I'm special"...to more evil pursuits; but it's abundantly clear he did it for his own good, as with everything he touches...

Notice how he relates to everything: "my generals', "my secret service", my "White House", 'my people..."

Who is "ya'll"?

My point. the thread is about Trump not Clinton. Start a thread if you want to discuss Bill or Hilary and the PRA.

so where are we at with this ?

there were papers/items removed from Mar-a-lago, the Govt wants us to believe they were classified etc without any proof they were ?

Your whining is amusing but not convincing.

The court decision comes from conservative judges and two of them were appointed by Trump. According to them, the execution of the search warrant was perfectly legal which means that there is credible evidence that a crime has been committed and evidence of the crime were inside Trump's residence.

Unfortunately, you don't seem to understand the factual differences.

The Clintons removed things that had been primarily given to them as gifts and that they wrongly thought they could take with them. They returned them after it was explained to them they belonged to the people of the United States, not them.

Trump took government documents that by law belonged to the people of the United States and were to be archived. We can give him the benefit of the doubt and say he didn't know that at the time. Multiple discussions and requests ensued and when that got no results the DOJ issued a legal subpoena which he defied, followed by a legally executed search warrant.

If Trump thought he had a legal right to those documents if there was a "his side" of the story the right place to settle this was in court not by breaking the law and defying a subpoena. To this day Trump has not told "his side" of the story in court even though he has had multiple opportunities.

Trump not only defied the subpoena, Christina Bobb falsified a letter in response to it. She spoke with the FBI two months ago. Somebody is in trouble.

He should not get any such benefit when we have the removal of highly classified documents. I take your point to be more like "even if we give Trump the benefit of the unreasonable doubt, his actions after he was approached by the DOJ still incriminate him."
