This is Reverend Jamie Johnson. This man is actually a reverend. And this is why I say that the Christian Right no longer has any real Christianity.

This guy was spouting this nonsense on conservative talk radio where people had no problem with the racist stuff he said. How many conservatives think like him.

So, let's go over just how stupid his claims are:

1. Jewish immigrants "in the early part of the 1800’s immediately rolled up their sleeves"

Hmm...what were the "lazy" Black people doing in the early 1800's? Oh yeah, picking cotton for free under slavery. So lazy of them.

2. He says these Jewish immigrants, "applied themselves to education and other means of improvement and other means of climbing the, I hate this phrase, but the social ladder"

Hmm...why didn't these "lazy" Black people do the same? Oh yeah, during slavery weren't allowed to learn to read.

Anti-literacy laws were in force in many slave states before and during the American Civil War regarding slaves, freedmen, and in some cases all people of color.

It's not until the 1960's Civil Rights Act that schools began desegregating. And that was a huge fight that tore the country apart. The South didn't want to desegregate. Sadly, schools are still segregated today because of economics.

3. He says Jewish people are successful "Because they work."

Hmm...when exactly was a Black man allowed to get a basic job like firefighter or policeman? Probably the 1970's some Black men were able to get basic jobs. Other immigrants were accumulating wealth from the 1800's and here we have Blacks finally able to get basic jobs and attend schools in the 1970's.

Think about this, until Jackie Robinson in 1947 Black men weren't even allowed to play professional baseball. Yes, Baseball! Forget any other decent job.

Imagine how damaging it is if for GENERATIONS men in a community are prevented from getting basic jobs. You need a job to support a family and raise children and to pass on wealth to your children.

How is it rational to compare the success of Jewish immigrants to Black in America? So, after all the brutal horrors that Blacks have faced in America, conservatives like Rev. Jamie Johnson then blame Blacks for the consequences of the injustices tha were imposed upon them.

Well, an unpleasant truth is that indigenous Blacks perform less well academically, economically and in regard to civil behavior like homicide than immigrant Blacks. Of course, you shouldn’t speak of it and certainly not put it down to their being lazy. But it reduces the robustness of blaming racism of society for the sad state of affairs.
 
Or maybe it was The Great Society of LBJ that did the deed. At any rate, the truth is not always found in the government.

I suspect being bred like animals for 400 year's has something to do with it.

Drive and ambition and a cutting intellect would have been bred out as problematic.

Big, strong, docile and just intelligent enough to follow instructions would have been the traits selected for.

There's a reason American blacks are magnificent athletes.

Yes, he mis-spoke, he should have said that LIBERALS have turned America’s cities into slums with their drugs, destruction of marriage and families, lack of work ethic, get stuff for FREE etc. etc.



It would have been more precise to focus upon the IDEAS and drastically lowered standards of liberals, of any color or gender.

Your description is much as one could describe the lot of Black Africans, though, they weren’t mostly fed as well and many starved in squalor. But be that as it may, it is typical to hear that kind of excuse instead of a solid explanation. But it seems that we agree to an extent that the victim mentality bred by false good intentions of the social system.

What's really ironic about the whole "Jewish conspiracy" about money is that the whole reason so many of them went into banking and loaning is because that was literally the only job they were allowed to have in European countries. Those jobs were considered "unclean," so they made the Jews do it.

So yes, there were a lot of them doing it, and some amount of them have old family businesses as a result. Beats starving. And now racists are angry at them for not starving.

The slave ships were harsh and deadly.

But the owners paid money for them. Makes no sense they would let their investments starve.

I know its easier to deny the genetic legacy of slavery.
 

So you're saying that immigrant Blacks performing better than indigenous Blacks proves that racism had nothing to do with the problems in the indigenous Black community? That's an illogical conclusion. It proves just the opposite.

Immigrant Blacks often didn't experience the generations of slavery that American Blacks suffered. The fact that immigrant Blacks do much better only proves how damaging racism was to American Blacks.

I'm from an immigrant Black family. There are all kinds of professionals in our family. There are lawyers and doctors everywhere. My cousin was teaching economics at Columbia and got an MBA from Wharton. But my grandfather was a mayor and doctor. They didn't live under slavery, Jim Crow, and segregation. I'm an engineer. Would I be an engineer if my mother and father weren't educated? Would they be educated if their parents weren't educated?

Do you see my point?

It is true that the colonists and later the warlords could replace their labor more easily. But the American Blacks haven’t been slaves and well kept in well over a hundred years. They also weren’t fixed up with social programs until after the late sixties and later. It is there that we should probably look gor the problem that minority has.

In the interpretation of the Christian bible before it was a bible it was believed that charging interest was a sin against God and in many areas were able to make it a crime. That left the profession of lending money for profit to "non Christians" and thus, Arabs and Jews took up the cause.

That was until Christians discovered how munch money could be made in insurance, so the Vatican changed the rule after a hefty donation or 100 were made.

It is true that genetic traits determine some of our actions and abilities, Semites seem to have a great aptitude for numbers. We like to point out how many are or were bankers, but forget those whose mathematic abilities who changed the world through science, like a guy named Einstein.
 

Nope. That is only, what you want to read into it. I did not comment on racism or its absence in the past. I only pointed out that it would now appear to be a different driving factor, if two groups perform differently. One of the main complexes in which the two groups of Blacks differ is the level of subsidies and preaching that possibly were the main formative drivers of the victim mentality. This is all only a simplified informed guess, but it does cover some important bases.

One point to add, American blacks have education available to them, however the K-12 area is sadly lacking in quality education. Have a look at "superman isn't coming" an documentary of one man's attempt to change the education of the better. It is open media so you can download it legally.

In the end, when you see the results of his work, the argument that American blacks do not have the aptitude becomes a criminal libel. It is like our indigenous people. We rounded them up, put them in "residential schools" to beat the "indian" out of them and they said of them that it was their race that held them back.

We are healing from that as a nation, meanwhile given the right opportunities 'they' do as well as any white, and now, we I am happy to report we have indigenous people in cabinet, senators, doctors and, of course, lawyers.

From my experience race has **** all to do with aptitude, much of which is determined by circumstances and experience.
 

Well, the great divergence was mid seventies.

And **** rolls downhill.

So might want to think about the fact that the lowest quintile had been getting richer at a slightly faster rate than the other four and that came to a screeching halt with the great divergence.

I just find it interesting that they were more than happy to allow these industries in their countries, and to take advantage of them... as long as they had a scapegoat doing it for them. Religious piety via outsourcing.

I don't know if it's so much genetic -- there's no evidence of genuine genetic difference between the races. But certainly, if a people spends hundreds of years fostering a culture of mathematical speciality, more of them will be specialists. Hundreds of years is far too short a time to any genetic evolution to occur, but more than enough for a cultural system to develop.

Well we were healing. People were so unbelievably pissed off that a successful black man, with his successful black wife, ran a successful, scandal-free presidency for 8 years, that they lost their everloving minds.

Proof of this is the fact that they elected (and still defend) one of the most blatant racists I've ever seen, who is working towards sending this country back to the Civil Rights era.

Sickening.
 

When Black schools are starved of funding, what would you expect. When Black Americans do not receive job interviews based upon their names, and whites get an interview, what would you expect, and yes the job application thing has been performed numerous times.
When HUD keeps on building Ghettos, what would you expect.
When the Justice system is skewed against Black Americans, what would you expect.

There was a reverend on AM Joy this morning (he was in either in block one or block two - was before Bishop Barber came on) and he called this "situational Christianity," and I realized that he was absolutely right. These "Christians" are Christians only when the situation suits them.

Gay people? Nooo..... Black people? No...... People from a religion different than theirs? Oh NOOOOOOooooooo........

Beating your wife? Cheating on your husband? Sex with a child?

Yup, yup, yup!

People will tear parts out of the Bible that they disagree with, which is textbook situational Christianity.

Do you deny that wealth passes on from one generation to another?

Do you deny that education is passed on from generation to generation?

Do you deny that African Americans had their African culture and traditions destroyed by slavery?

I had two parents who remained married despite not getting along. Why? It was part of their culture. Racism nearly destroyed the African American family and culture. If you can't get a job, how can you have a family?

I'm saying that the redistribution of wealth that occurred in the mid seventies is a primary contributing factor.

Its been harder for every everybody in the lower quintiles since then. They've all been living on the same income adjusted for inflation for 40 years.

Treading water.

And treading water for generations kills hope.
