So what? How is a medal or two an indicator of suitability for an executive role? Two Bronze Stars.

Pete Hegseth, a former Army National Guard major has been chosen to take on the challenging role of U.S. defense secretary.www.newsx.com
No. I expect a 4-year whinefest.Do you really think that will stop their hair pulling?
He never saw combat. Two Bronze Stars.
It is not funny at all it will get people killed.![]()
Trump nominates Fox News host, veteran Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense
President-elect Donald Trump stunned political observers Tuesday night by nominating Fox News personality Pete Hegseth for secretary of defense.nypost.com
LMAO. Now this is funny, but reckless. Pete is a news commentator and is a loyalist, which is what Trump wants now.
You act as if you will not be whining with every other American. I give it 6 months from now and people with a brain will be fighting fascism instead of whining about it.No. I expect a 4-year whinefest.
Oh, most assuredly you'll get that.No. I expect a 4-year whinefest.
Glad you think so.Our military forces are already stronger than the next 10 countries combined, most of which are our Allies.
The sky will not be falling on Americans. You act as if you will not be whining with every other American. I give it 6 months from now and people with a brain will be fighting fascism instead of whining about it.
You've confused him with Joey Jones, also an honorable man. Pete is a great pick of the "non-swamp" type.Reckless?
Not really. Once again I am glad that Trump is appointing non-swamp people to positions where they can help supervise clearing out parts of the swamp.
He may currently be a news commentator, but he is also an Army veteran, a combat veteran, served as an Army Major, and wounded in action losing both his legs below the knees.
He is also a good pick because he was NOT a "General Grade" Officer.
As we have seen from the various members of the General Staff, they are all politicians. More interested in personal public and political advancement than doing their best for their personnel. They've demonstrated having bought into the DEI politics and undermined the effectiveness of the various military branches.
Hegseth will serve and he will do it honorably and honestly, and I for one hope he helps Trump clean out the General Staff of those self-serving and otherwise worthless political Generals.
Agreed. Both are honorable men. You've confused him with Joey Jones, also an honorable man.
Pete is a great pick of the "non-swamp" type.
Being this is his country and not yours, his opinion is a hell of a lot more relevant than some liberal Brit from across the pond.

Jerusalem Cross. It's not better, but it's not Nazi. Full on Crusader, but he doesn't reflexively hate Jews.He has an Iron Cross tattoo
He is a Neo Nazi.
Glad you think so.
"Peace through strength" should be our watch words.
So no executive experience in government then; just like Trump-and look what a disaster his last bunch of "best people" turned out to be. Trump picks according to loyalty or nepotism and how nicely the chosen ones have spoken of him, not for their ability or experience in a specific role. This is not news, but is a recipe for failure. Just like the last time.![]()

The Drumpf graduated from Wharton. You obviously haven't read his biography. Princeton/Harvard educated, a retired Army Major with a couple of bronze stars, meaning he saw combat.

"Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had" Reported quote from a Wharton professor. The Drumpf graduated from Wharton.![]()

I'm sure that your fondest hope is that all the Trump picks will fail. Not sure why you care so much from across the pond, but I guess we will all have to wait and see who is confirmed (Pete H. will need a Congressional waiver, I think). So no executive experience in government then; just like Trump-and look what a disaster his last bunch of "best people" turned out to be. More than half of Trump's 20-person Cabinet has engaged in questionable or unethical conduct
Ethics experts are alarmed at the drumbeat of revelations about travel, business holdings and investments, warning that public trust and reliable government are at risk. A former ethics official asks: "If the boss doesn't care, why should you, then?"www.apmreports.org
He doesn't have the experience to be SoD.....he needs to have been a leader of more than 100 or so people also I prefer leaders who don't think that war crimes are funny.![]()

Your opinion is that this is what Trump wants. My guess is that your hope is for failure, but my hope is for a new broom that sweeps clean.I guess you’re telling us that no one should be concerned that Trump wants a yes man with no experience to lead DoD.
That means "he deployed as an officer".Two Bronze Stars.
If he is unprepared or lacking in ability, this will soon be known. Meanwhile, take a look at how the DOD is organized and who will be advising him: https://history.defense.gov/Publications/DoD-Key-Officials/Key-Officials-Timeline/1000/There's nothing in this biography to suggest he's prepared or qualified to be SECDEF.
