Trump Named the 2024 Person Of The Year

The bar is quite high, actually:

"The [Person Of The Year] distinction is not an honor or endorsement, but a recognition of a figure that has “most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year, for better or for worse,” - Time (former) managing editor Walter Isaacson
You missed a lot of posts. Important ones.

Trump has been named the 2024 Time Person of the Year. This is the second time that Time Magazine named Trump Person Of The Year. In 2016 Trump was Person Of The Year.

"This is someone who made a historic comeback, who reshaped the American presidency and who's reordering American politics. It's hard to argue with the fact that the person who is moving into the Oval Office is the most influential person in the news," - Time Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs
The quote and his selection is correct.

Thing is, it is for the bad that he was selected.

Over time, we’ve seen the Person of the Year franchise shift: from Man of the Year to its current designation; from the period between the world wars, defined by leaders like Mohandas Gandhi and Wallis Simpson, to the first quarter of the 21st century, an era marked by the tremendous changes ushered in by a technological revolution. Although the American presidency has evolved across these eras, its influence has not diminished. Today, we are witnessing a resurgence of populism, a widening mistrust in the institutions that defined the last century, and an eroding faith that liberal values will lead to better lives for most people. Trump is both agent and beneficiary of it all.
For marshaling a comeback of historic proportions, for driving a once-in-a-generation political realignment, for reshaping the American presidency and altering America’s role in the world, Donald Trump is TIME’s 2024 Person of the Year.
Their take.

For being the first convicted felon to be installed as POTUS and CinC....

Meh, it doesn't count unless he gets spanked with it by a porn star.

If this has already been mentioned, my apologies, but...

I'd like to point something out....

In the past, when a Democrat, liberal is on the cover or Time publishes something the right doesn't like...

Then the right likes to bring up the following as repudiation: Hitler was also Man of the Year in 1938.

So, MAGA-mites, is Time back in your good graces with putting Trump on the cover as Man of the Year, so you won't be mentioning the whole Hitler thing?

Who else could it possibly be in 2024? Certainly not Kamala Harris.

Time is run by groveling cowards. Should have been Gisèle Pelicot.

They probably considered her. But it usually goes to the biggest news maker.

As the first female president it would almost certainly have been Harris if she'd won, so no harm no foul.
