Trump has been named the 2024 Time Person of the Year. This is the second time that Time Magazine named Trump Person Of The Year. In 2016 Trump was Person Of The Year.

Hitler was Time's person of the year in 1938. That of course worked out nicely for everyone for a while. By which I mean 6 months.

There was another time - when he had a fake magazine cover made up its a poster to display at one of his golf properties.

Bill Clinton was Person of the Year twice as well. Lots of Presidents have been, along with Gorbachev, Khomeini, Krushev, and Trump's hero, Putin.

I think that Trump is the only person to have been named Person Of The Year twice. I'll need to fact-check that.

The bar is quite high, actually:

It has been the person elected President in every election going back to 2000.

They used to mix it up a bit.
 
As people will have pointed out, regardless of what you think, he is the obvious choice.

You made my point perfectly.

You just don't understand why.
 
Trump deserves the designation. He has been an extraordinary figure, like Caesar, striding the world like a Colossus. That doesn’t diminish his status as a toxic presence on our politics. Look at his history pre and post presidency, and dare to say that this liar, abuser of women, endorser or torture and war crimes deserves to lead a country that has stood so much in opposition to what he preaches — except in our worse moments.
