I get it. I'm torn on this one but when I take a step back......I think why take it if it serves no legal purpose and adds fuel to the witch hunt mantra. The more respect and deference Bragg and the courts show to his position the less screaming there can be that he is a political target. I also think there is a potentially huge issue if the mug shot was, in my view inevitably, leaked to the public .

That's what us Yanks love about you Canucks! So sensible, moderate, and compassionate. Whenever I go back up over the 49th, I feel a little like I'm back in the 70's! In a good way.

Remember though, those mug shots are taken in part to release to other law enforcement agencies world-wide. If a guy goes on the lam or commits worse crimes & goes on the lam, to some out-of-the-way nation, we can send them an identifying image. That government may post then image to the general public.

While you're right that most of the world knows Trump, I still would want a mug shot for the official record, and for historical artifact. We're making history, here.

Just heard it reported that the NY State statute does NOT require mug shots only fingerprints. There is also a serious concern that once taken and entered into the database it can be accessed by any LE agent so the risk of it being leaked is huge. I'm even more convinced that they should not be taken. Mind you it is also being reported he wants to put it on campaign tee shirts so maybe Trump forces it...but I doubt it...or maybe ....nah...but maybe

Just because mug shots are unnecessary. In NY State it is illegal to release a mug shot for any reason other than flight so the suspect's picture can be sent to LE. That's not going to be the case so to take a mug shot just seems unnecessarily punitive to me.

It has to be done. He's being arrested, booked, fingerprinted, and photographed.

It's the process.
